"plain spokeness" can also be the result of little wit. There are countless better ways to say somehting to the tune of :we will defeat the enemy and make the place better.

No one will carry out more attacks against Americans becuase of this statement. That does not mean it was not a tactess and poorly though out statement.

        GePap,
He is trying to draw them out, at least that is what I get from the message. It has to be blunt and offensive.

          Guy,
I am referring to Syrians and the outsiders that are attacking our men and women, whether they are military or not, I am not aware of a war decree with Syria, are you? And BTW, Iraqi civilians are dying, some electrical workers just died within that last week, so it does follow your definition of terrorism.

I am sorry, but to think that this will in any way affect the actions of those fighting us is absurd (either from your view or form that of his detractors). They won't "bring it on" becuase they are waging guerilla warfare and the point of that is not to come out an engage directly an enemy with vastly superior firepower.

This is a comment for public US consumption, as a such, as Gynemer said, at the same level as that from a cheap hollywood flick. He has very intelliegent writers on staff.

              Sava, You are a hypocrit,
perhaps... but not for anything I've said in this thread...
we should get out of Iraq now
that's not what I said... in fact I think we need more troops in Iraq to fix things.
and you are saying Bush is a deserter in Afghanistan,
No Bush is a deserter because he left his cushy post at the Texas Air National Guard...
BTW, we are still there and we control Afghanistan and we are starting to move in on the warlords. When you hear no news that is generally a good thing.
              Sure....

                GePap,
Maybe, but don't think for a minute it won't reach over there, it will.

Defiant would this controle be actual controle or supposed controle? We are not in controle of all the occuppied areas unless you mean Air Superiority and regular military numbers how many irregulars are there now?In such political phase of a guerilla situation where the enemy is attempting to recruit it is comments like this that show our leader as having no regard for peace which help them. Our presence itself based on the weapons arguement is a failure.I think it increased the resistence alot and this serves to affirm a terrible Arab image of America and Americans.

We should not have gone into Iraq at that point in time. But since we are there, we need to do things right. I would prefer to see UN peacekeepers in Iraq, but regardless, the military presence... around 250k... simply isn't enough to keep the order among 23 million people.

Also, since when is flight school "cushy", especially on a Century Series interceptor?

But hey, repeat a lie especially in soundbyte format ("He's a deserter") and maybe people will start believing you, right Sava?

. In his final 18 months of military service in 1972 and 1973, Bush did not fly at all. And for much of that time, Bush was all but unaccounted for: For a full year, there is no record that he showed up for the periodic drills required of part-time guardsmen.

Bush, who declined to be interviewed on the issue, said through a spokesman that he has ''some recollection'' of attending drills that year, but maybe not consistently.

From May to November 1972, Bush was in Alabama working in a US Senate campaign, and was required to attend drills at an Air National Guard unit in Montgomery. But there is no evidence in his record that he did so.

Translated from Bush-speak: "I'll fight them to the last GI."

For Repukes who like to pretend this isn't scummy, here's a thought experiment for you. Imagine that Bill Clinton just said that. How would you feel then?

                              Uh-huh, that's what I thought.
