I'm just wondering why anybody would spend 4.5 years in a job they admittedly hate.

That's more than I get (to the original guy in the first post)

I have to work 1 year before I got 1 week of vacation time. After 2 years I got 2 weeks a year.

                    After I work 5 years I get 3 weeks a year.

We used to not have any sick days, but recently they have changed that and allowed us to use 3 sick days a year. We also get 3 holdays a year now (we used to have none)

Yeah -- I'm making huge profits by copying and pasting this article onto Apolyton.

                          Truely interesting.
Never thought about how much Vacation Time Amreicans have.
Always thougth it would be somewhere in the Range of 4 weeks/year like we in Germany get.

                          btw.
how much Vacation does an american Presient get?

Having a fulfilling job is one thing, but if you'd rather be in work than off on holiday then theres something wrong somewhere

Charly Rok, a 38-year-old New York City-based public relations executive, is one example. Rok sometimes goes away on vacation for a few days at a time, but rarely takes a full week off. And even on the short trips that she does manage to take, she checks her work e-mails and returns phone calls so she doesn't miss any important work.
This is like the position that I'm in. I haven't had extended time off in over six months because I can't trust the nitwits around me to get the job done right.

Strange thing is, I feel no need for the time off anyway. I'm a homebody and a bit of of workaholic, so I don't miss it anyway.

This may be simplistic but surely if people get more time off it is going to boost the service economy as they do more leisure activities and go away on vacation?
