I've actually put a good deal of time into what I'd want though I suspect I could never afford even a modest version. I would like a 4-5 acre lot along the California cost, preferably in either San Diego or Santa Barbara counties, in which my lot hold both banks of a small stream or river. I would like it very much if there was a slight hill nearby where I could build my house (not to big of a house but some where between 3k and 5k sq. ft.) and in the lower laying area I'd like to build a small dam and dig a pond area behind the dam which I would use for generating a modest amount of hydro power. The rest of the grounds would be planted with all manner of fruit trees, flowers, and decreative plants and I would have a nice walking path which my family or guests could use.
The main house would have a large basement which would be converted into a pool/bar area and have french doors providing accress to the yard thus making entertaining easy. The rest of the house would be two stories with the attic converted into the master suite. I'd have 6 bedrooms besides the master suite (4 for the four kids I want, 1 for my study/office, and an extra as a guest room). It would have 4' wide solid wood doors for every door way, lots of old fashioned fancy windows to lighten the place up (but double paned to keep the house cool) and the whole house would be done in a French Proviencial style and would have lots of patio and balacony space so people could enought the wonderful climate.. I've just always like the proviencial look.
Lastly, I want an out doorbrick BBQ, a pool and a spa. They would be arranged around a partially covered outdoor patio area with lots and lots of flowers and green trees near by. That's my dream house.
