After two months Russian army gain full control over entire territory of Chechnya. But garnison duty can't be without losses anyway. Yes, the Kirov is very nice, but when you only have one of them, it's pretty useless. A Kirov could arguably take a US carrier, but the US has 12 carriers and the Russians have 1 Kirov. You do the math. Even the Brits could take it out if they needed to.

The Kirov is a heavy cruiser. I wouldn't be a bit worried about it. A US CVBG would take it out no problem. The Ruskis might have a chance against a CVBG with a submarine if they got lucky. But overall we would wax their azzes. WE have the blue ocean Navy. They have a coastal defense fleet. They're nobody.

okay GP , you are the one who can confirm this , what do you say about one , maybe two harpoons launched from a sub , ..... would that not sink a 25 000 weight cruiser that has nearly 40 of its waterproof inerpanels take out during last " update ", ..... not to mention the entire weight concept is also unbalanced , ......

Harpoons are not the weapon of choice for alrge targets. It might absorb more Harpoons than you expect. (Although, Russian damage control is ****tier than our I expect.) The ship is pretty massive.

A submarine would use a torpedo to attack it. (basically not that different from how ww2 attacks were done.) One torp would almost certainly be be enough. Because of how they explode under the keel.

Subs only really think about Harpoons for small targets, ones with shallow draft.

If a ship stays in the yards much longer when it's still ordering repeats of bulk electronics...as Janes pointed out, there was probably a yard casulty.

So, as I thought you don’t know this for sure.
Tell me is it possible that new electronics were ordered for upgrade purpose, to replace old systems with new ones? Or you exclude such possibility?
