She does inspire strong feelings, but this isn't remotely true. I love an Argentinean speaking about things in American politics of which he knows nothing.

Gallup has conducted a running in poll of her favorability rating, and in May it was DEAD EVEN at 43% favorable and 43% unfavorable. Unless you believe New Yorkers accounted for 43% of the population, you're once again completely wrong.

Most people don't hate Hillary, but she is far from admirable. I mean, really what has she done to deserve her place in life? I remember all too well the feminist types dumping on old Barbara Bush because she was "only" the wife of someone famous. Now Hillary comes along with the same credentials, plus a few shady deals like Whitewater in her past, and all of a sudden she's supposed to be wonderful. Yeah, right.

Many people are terribly disappointed in her for standing by her husband who is obviously a cheating lout. This wasn't true love here. This was shrewd cynical politicking and it cheapens her and her marriage. And the final insult is her book. You could almost here he saying, let's dredge up all the old dirt again so that I can make a fast buck. So excuse me if I find so little to admire.

Personally, by saying Hillary isn't a qualified Senator, people are basically saying the vast majority of New York voters who contributed to her landslide victory are complete dumbasses. While I think about 95% of Americans are dumbasses, she is a legitimate and qualified candidate. I don't particularly like her, I'd only vote for her if it was a choice between her and some Republican, but this blatant Hillary hating is stupid.

Conversely, I remember when the reactionaries dumped on Geraldine Ferraro so viciously. Heaven forbid a woman dare to run for vice president!

Countless people are cheated on and remain with their spouses. In fact, Christian traditionalists implore such people to stick together and work out their troubles. Who are you to judge her marriage? You don't know her relationship with Bill.

IMO, the fact that she has remained with him despite his philandering is because she really does love him, however much he hurts her. She could have left him in 1998 and not suffered for it, I believe. She would have engendered a huge amount of sympathy, even from those who previously hated her.

A little bit of A, a little bit of B . If Hillary ran as Hillary Rodham (ie, never married Bill Clinton) she never would have won. She won because she was wife of an extremely popular President. Of course many people win because of their fathers' names (Gore, Bush), but even they tend to be a bit more qualified for the job. I'd have prefered to see her work more in private life or for the next Democratic administration rather than jumping to Senator right away.

I can't stand Hillary Rodham Clinton, but it has nothing to do with her being a sucessful woman in democratic or national politics. It has to do with her being an arrogant and obnoxious egomaniac.

Two recent examples come to mind.

A couple of months ago she was speaking in a senate debate. As her time expired, John Edward (D-NC, who I am no great fan of either) approached the rostrum to speak next. Senator Clinton, who was not quite finished yet, told him to "sit down, shut up, and look pretty." There is no need for such behavior by a public official.

In the interview which aired last week, Barbara Walters asked Senator Clinton about the failure of the Clinton health care plan. Senator Clinton described this as "another trial I had to endure", as if it were a cold, death in the family, or some other random act of Fate, not something which she herself was primarily responsible for. One might well have expected her to take responsibility for her actions.
