The rebels should have had people hidden out on the perimeter who could have disabled Imperial walkers in a similar method to Luke's efforts. The sad thing is that Luke did more damage to the Imperials after he was shot down than when he actually had a fighter craft.

It really annoys me that people are trying to trivalise one of the most important events in Galactic history by comparing it to a skirmish in a minor war on a planet that has no influence at all.Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.
