And Albert, like others have said beauty is subjective. The reason you see more Hispanics pushed as a beauty ideal is because more Hispanics are in the US now. It's as simple as that.

It's not a tool of the whiteman's oppression but one look at any women's magazine will tell you which beauty ideal sells issues. That it is women who buy these magazines and not men leads me to believe many women have bought into the idea that the northern European look is the "most beautiful. Just look how blonde hair dye and blue eye contacts sell so well. Look at how east Asian and south Asian women often get plastic surgery in order to better fit this supposed ideal. Lastly, look at how high, certainly the highest of any ethnic group, the marry out rate is for Asian women.

That was the one that struck me most when I took my Asian-American studies class (I'm a white boy but I wanted to broaden my outlook). Many Asian-Americans have begun to believe the media advertising which our culture is submerged in where it is beaten over their head that white is beautiful and the northern white look is the most sought after. It's sad but true and Asians aren't the only ones just about every minority group has the same negitive self image.

I don't think that society forces standards of "what is a nice looking man" on women, or "what is a nice looking woman" on men.

not all White Skin/Blond Hair/Blue eyes girls are considered to be beautiful by current western standards.

girls that do not possess these charactersitics are considered ot be beautiful by current standards, as well.

So how exactly does the "Blond Hair+Blue Eyes= Ethalon of Beauty" formula work?
