I really would love to feel about America like I once used to. but this fascist, aggressive, paranoid, kleptomanic, bigoted, biased and incompetent regime of criminals, which currently occupies the White House just doesn´t let me anymore.
(sorry for the troll, but I couldn´t help anymore. the whole world around me feels like I do. will there be any day when good news come from Washington again?)

Is it just me or is that completely irrelevant to the matter in hand

Im sure that eventually, the American people, which whom I have no problem, will see through what I like to call "the cloak of patriotism", and be able to view the US government in the same manner as the rest of the world.

Politicians are always giving contracts to companies that will benefit them personally in the long run, whether financially or in terms of future votes. Look at the number of former ministers (from any party) that end up on the boards of big companies. It happens here so I'm not surprised it also happens in America. I think it'd be very unlikely that any non-US companies get involved, other than perhaps a couple of British ones as a token thank you to King Tony.

With the Iraq reconstruction, in all fairness to the Americans, most of the money is US taxpayers, so you'd sort of expect them to give the contracts to US companies. Youd also expect that all over the world, with all governments.

I agree. And they shouldn't be awarding sneaky, no-bid contracts to Bush stoolies like Bechtel or Halliburton either. T

Yes, that's probably a better way of saying what I meant.
