Bulgaria is an Orthodox Christian country. We have a Muslim minority (mostly in the southeastern part of the country), but Muslims and Christians get along very well. I don't know how often we have marriages between people of the two religions though.

accuse her of being a bigot.

But don't be too hard on her, since she's one of the closest people to you. Try to change her. This is with or without the personal problem. Being bigotted is bad.

        oh, and obviously: convert her.

"I would like her a lot more if she weren't Muslim" is a different thing than "I don´t want you to date her again".
if your mother accepts your love (?) to this girl after all, you should also accept her opinion about this - just try to live with it. you can´t change her opinion in one day anyway. and after all you will come into many situations where your parents won´t agree with you.

your parents try to influence you and since you are still very young this is normal and generally good.
but this is only half of the truth, because this is no one-way-road. in a well working family, parents and children influence each other. maybe you have noticed this already in some other issues.

the situation you´re facing now may be hard for you (and certainly for your parents as well). but if you really like or even love this girl, you and your mother can even grow with it. the longer you stay together with her the more your mother be able to deal with it and learn to repect her.

          I wish you good luck.

People, we mustn't forget that he's only 14. I couldn't possible FALL IN LOVE at the age of 14.

But I am immature, after all.

His age is irrelevant, if his mother didn't like the girl because she was clearly a criminal intent on getting him into trouble then she would be right to be concerned. Her sole reason for not liking her is that she is a muslim.

                  That is wrong.

since 16, I've gone out with 9... serious with 6. I didn't feel it necessary to list the same religion twice.

I don't recall ever going out with anyone who had any kind of religion.

It's pretty hard to meet anyone who isn't athiest/agnostic/doesn't care these days in Reading.

Wow... sounds like a nice place. That's the problem with America; too many damn fundies. Everyone's an extremist of sorts. I wouldn't mind it so much if they weren't so hypocritical.
