    And then?
“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)

Hopefully we can ditch the pound, the queen, the anthem and the flag and join Europe properly.

Well the anthem, queen and the flag can go. I don't care who's head is on the currecy or what you call it, I just wnat my elected politicians to have some control over it
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

You can still have the Queen on the Euro coins.

My point was that it deosn't matter who is on the coins or notes and that it is a bigger issue than that. (unbelievably some people will actually campaign on the issue of whose head is on the currency)

I think sooner or later we have to choose between being America's economic b1tch and being a proper part of Europe and bearing in mind that politically, economically and culturally I feel I have much more in common with Europeans than Americans I'd rather be part of Europe.

                  I'd rather not.

My vote would be to have Brittania on the coins.

I think I have alot in common with both, so I'd like to remain independant.

I prefer my Government NOT to have Influence on the Currency, thanks.

As I remember the ECB is in Essence based on the German Federal Bank which is based on the US Federal Reserve which is supposed to be independent?

Almost. The German Bundesbank and the ECB ARE independent, the US Fed is supposedly independent.

I want independence up to a point, but the politicians have to chose the targets and who sits on the board of the central bank. At the moment the central bank that sets UK interst rates is accountable to UK chancellor and to parliament.
