it´s an ambivalent thing. as you know I lived in an American sector in Berlin for a pretty long time. I regarded the presence of the US, the British and the French here in Germany as positive. most people in West Berin thought that way.that done with, could there be a bit of a german guilt on what you're saying?
even the Soviet presence wasn´t all that negative for me. as a child I remember I was invited to a gulash by Russian soldiers who had their barracks near to one of my friends home.

Let us see how Poles always get a bad deal.
First, they join NATO, ie US sells them NATO as a good-place-to-be meaning in reality Poland will have to scrap most of its Russian weaponry and buy American weaponry. A new weapon market, pardon, democracy is established.
Secondly, they are entering EU but agreed to recieve far less money than they supposed to. They should have consulted the Greeks on this
Thirdly, US goes to Iraq to liberate oil and they get dragged in and end up with 8 million souls to care about.
