  • Poland gets a quarter of Iraq? Why?

I don't have a link, I read it in newspaper, but you must have heard of it.

Poland gets a quarter of Iraq to occupy for sending 200 soldiers to the coalition!?

Am I the only one who finds this crazy?

I mean international politics is full of wonders and finns use a lot of tissue paper but this just about tops it all

Will this really come to pass? And it really demonstrates how few allies US has left.

I think this is wrong. US singlehandedly attacked Iraq and defeated them (and almost defeated the Brits there in the process ) and should also be the only one to take responsability for what they did.

Poland is getting tricked here I believe. They sent 200 soldiers and now they will be getting a quarter of the blame and the problems. Very naive.

    What do you think?

They are getting a zone of occupation which is very different then owning a portion of the country. In Kosovo there was five different zones a dozens of subzones. This is just the standard procedure for controlling a territory.

With luck a non-fundimentalist Iraqi government will be up and running in the next year or two and then they can take over the day to day stuff.

Poor attempts at trolls. By the way, I think it was more than 200 soldiers. Other countries will also receive portions of Iraq, like Spain and Italy because they will be deploying troops for police duties.

Poland was divided many times. That is why every Pole deeply despises this occupation and sympathizes with Iraqis.

I really don't see this working.

even if Poland sent more than 200 soldiers then what the hell... what has poland got to do with this anyway, they don't have any political importance as far as i know.

it wouldn't surprise me all that much anyway if this were an an intentional pr stunt

Poland sent its top elite forces to aid us in the war.

Poland was devided up to be annexed. The current occupation is meant to be temporary and to help Iraq be a united democratic country.

                        Yes.

Anyways, Poland just needs a little bit of control to build its pride. We all know what kind of unfortunate history the Poles have had... just let them have this for goodness sakes.

Really? For some reason I highly doubt the validity of this statement. It is a fact, that most East Europeans are more in favor of this war than Central Europeans (Germany/France).

Oerdin, you think this is right? I mean I could get a couple friends to help Americans and ask a part of a nation afterwards?

This is different from Kosovo. Thing could get really ugly and if they do how will Polish politicians explain to their people why they are in Iraq?

fez learn a difference between discussion and provoking reactions for once

I think that the fact that people accept this is symptomatic of how ridiculous international politics have gotten.

USA is clearly trying to spread some responsability around and Poles are being naive
