      It's just common sense. If it will boot up in safe mode, then the CMOS and basic OS and hardware are OK. It has to be something that gets loaded after Windows has finished doing it's thing.

        I agree with that, but i also think that rolling back from safe mode - as suggested by UR - might work.
        And since it takes less time, i'd suggest trying that 1st.
