Yeah, I know what you mean. I swear Fox News must be written in the basement of the White House. I've never seen such slanted "reporting."

You'd have to be way out there on the right wing to see CNN as left wing.

Perhaps the real problem is the world as it is doesn't look or act anything like the far right imagines.

The CNN bashing is a shoot the messenger thing.

Orange, Bush has his own brain.

Zkribbler, I don't agree. IMO the FOX news channel doesn't automaticly attack republicans and the policies of republicans, which is what we're used to from TV news. Since they don't lean left, they appear to left leaning people to lean right.

Also, what if they do lean right? (Not saying they do) If it's ok for CNN to lean, it's ok for FOX.

The perfect news would not work opinions in. A simple statement of the news would be best.

'Today president Bush ordered the military to liberate Iraq.'

Period. That's what he did. Not about how its an invasion by another name, blah blah blah.

'5000 people protested the decision in NY'

Period. Not how it reminds this commentator about Vietnam, etc...

That would be the best, pure news.

Sure, that's the spin. The NEWS is what he ACTUALLY SAID.

AH, we are opposite. I'm a republican, you're a democrat, I'm a christian, you're an athiest. I'm a babe magnet, and well, I guess that makes you gay. Hmmm.

            Does the wife know?

I'm all for factual news but that isn't factual. The word liberate is not neutral.

It's the word he used, that's the news. Someone elses opinion of whether its the right word might be news too, but certainly the newsperson shouldn't be spinning the stories, either way. Their job is to report the news. Then the people can think what they will about the word 'liberate', without having to listen to a bunch of blah. Blah is bad, blah isn't news.

Quite. So the factual reporting would be along the lines of

"US forces today invaded/attacked Iraq in what President Bush described as an operation to liberate the Iraqi people."

Liberate is a very value loaded term.

So when FDR coined the expression "brain trust" and used that term colloquially to refer to his advisors, was that bias too? How about "think-tank" to describe groups like RAND Corporation, the Brookings Institute and the Hoover Institute?

You really need to look for more interesting material to work with.
