Mobile Phone thread: do you use them and if you do, what's your device?

yeah, they're lagging behind. But in terms of Broadband internet connection, we've just invented fire, while the Japanese have already landed on Alpha centauri in both fields.
Well Japan got 3G while every other country is farting at that general direction (3G, not Japan).

it's interesting to note that every country where the major manufacturers / telecom companies are (finland, japan, and skorea) tend to be on the cutting edge and have far more developed cellular systems than in the us and elsewhere.
helps that they're a lot smaller, and their entire nations are more devoted to technologies.

hi ,
the US was on a good road with motorola , but then a couple years ago it went death , ....
its also funny to see that for example the SE 520 was being relased in china a couple years ago and not on the us market till about right now , ....
when it come to gsm's most of the new models are only to be found in some cities , the big apple and the big orange , boulder / denver and to a lesser extend in chicago and miami , .....
most americans dont seem to care , ....
hey , what ya want , you have a telephone booth on most corners and the cell carriers are way to expensive and there are way to many of them without any roaming agreements , ....
not to mention that for a large user its actually cheaper to make calls with certain sattelite phone companies then with gsm's , ....
Heheh, I got the exact same piece of **** Vetlegion...
I hate making telephone calls so I don't invest a dime in telephone equipment, I don't see the point using it except for arranging a meeting or so, and that only lasts half a minute, usually. I truly don't understand how all those 12 year olds can spend hundreds of euros in just a month's time... I can manage 3-4 months with just €25 or so...

I resisted the call of mobile phones for several years. I had no need of the I told myself. Then I bought one just before the EU-summit in Gothenburg, so I could keep in touch with party comrades, police and city officials in the busy days of preparation. And now I can´t live without it This was a Siemens of some sort, I called it the "porno mobile" cause not only was the digits and screen lit up by a sexy dim red light, it was also smooth and slightly rounded. Eehh, I think you get the picture...
My current mobile phone is a Ericsson T65, good phone with a large screen, but damn small digits and a complicated menu system that forces you to press buttons in absurdum
I´m told it has both WAP and GPRS capability, but I never bothered with that fancy stuff. 3G sucks ass IMO

Hey! It is the best designed mobile ever. I challenge you to find cooler model before or after 8110. You can't, can you?
And I am on a pre-paid system. I buy cards with codes on kiosks, and when I type in the code I get the sum I paid at the kiosk added to my account. Great thing, you can control your spending easier than if you have a subscription. Only limit is you have to spend 15 Euro in 3 months which as you may guess is no problem at all
Heh... I am the only one in my Law School section without a cell phone and they look at me like I'm a freak . I still don't have one.
