The Otto Klemperer/Philharmonia Orchestra 1962 recording of the Brahms Requiem. Something clicked, and the recording is inspirational.
The Wilhelm Furtwangler/Berlin Philharmonic live recording of the Bruckner 9th Symphony from 1944. This is simply one of the most amazing performances ever recorded. As the war was winding down, the BPO gave this concert--and nobody came. The audience was empty, but Furtwangler conducted it anyway...and the result is stupendous, even if in mono sound.
Herbert von Karajan/Vienna Philharmonic recording of Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov, with Nicolai Ghiaurov, Ludovic Speiss and Martti Talvela. The cast is superb, the orchestra brilliant and the chorus stunning. Only Karajan's slow tempos in certain places are less-than-satisfactory, but the overall effect is stunning.Tutto nel mondo è burlaComment
