They are weak and frivolous! Land shall be held by strength, not words! We must take the river!

Pjay has also just rationalised my instinctive reaction, which helps a lot.

what about not discussing a decitied zone, just us west and them east of the river, and make sure we found cities on that river before they can?

Im guessing that would be seen as overly restrictive, putting myself in bananas shoes not being able to make culture buildings sounds bad. Lets just take the simplest way to make that turf our own.

How about just sending a message then with this pic, proposing the red meridian as our border?

If they agree with that, it would be very good. If they agree immediately, it probably means they've got lots of land to the east though.

Personally I'm hoping that desert isle SW of our capital will serve as a stepping stone to more land for us, or another civ.

Yes that sounds like a better proposal (I had originaly though their capital was one tile further west when I proposed the river border).

Nice job not showing the marble on the screen shot

The degree to which they haggle over this will give us a good indication of their remaining territory but in any case we can still scout it and find out eventualy. If nessary we might agree to some kind of no-City zone but I doupt they will want that (they now they can push the border with their culture. But founding First makes a big difference.

Our imediate goals should be Teching to PriestHood, grabing the Marble with the Second City and nailing the Oracle with a Chop/Whip combo. Do we want CoL or MetalCasting for the Collosus. I am leaning to CoL with MetalCasting as the imediatly following Research (or possibly Sailing/Masonry/Writing mixed in)

You're right impaler, there are few choices possible for our next tech-path. However, they have little to do with banana diplomacy

Maniac can send that border proposal to the Bananas and we can discuss the tech paths in the thread for the previous turn. Just before the turn where we have to choose a new tech (that's in 2 turns), we can put up a poll with the most popular options.

A one tile no-city zone would be nice though IMO. Then we are assured we can build a city on the west banks of the river and get +2 health.

                            How about replying:

Re city borders, that would be desired indeed, as far as possible. To make sure achieving this is easy, how about a one-tile no-city-build zone on both our borders?
                            What about minimap trade?

Btw, why have so many civs in this DG chosen a creative leader? Going for a cultural victory is an invitation for an allied invasion (though of course the more civs go for a cultural victory, the harder this becomes...) and another benefit - taking over a couple border tiles - isn't used by the Bananas either: they themselves have suggested to fix city cultural borders.
Is it just for the ease to get to 10 culture that people have chosen this trait?

u have a ittle more freedom indeed to place your cities: since we have no religion in our strategy, our only way to get all workable tiles in a city is building a obelisk ...

U agree we need bronze, if we find it, we have to place a city next to it, because else our culture wont get it until we have mysticm + builded an obelisk, or writing + libary

Yes that pidley 2 culture per turn is the only real reason to have Creative, the other boni dont add up to a hill of beans (I almost never Build Colloseums and theathers are dirt cheap).
This is one of the Reasons I ALWAYS grap (or try to grab) StoneHenge in Single Player, shure I have to wait 5 turns longer for the border pop but in the grand scheam of things I get ~80% of the Advantage of a whole Trait for a measly 120 Hammers.

Its NOT suprising that EVERY team chosse a Finacial Leader.
