          It's good.

But ask for the minimap in the military-info view. It's bigger.

Now that we know the location of the Bannana Capitol we can begin discussing some territory issues.

I think we could make a tenative border proposal to them as follows.

"The Soth flowing river to our East, your west could serve as a border, the border will run the length of the river and continue northward along that longitude up the artic ocean (the little kink at the rivers head will be ignored) neither side will found cities directly adjacent to the river providing the nessary 2 space seperation between cities. Either side may found cities on its side of the line and cultural borders will determine themselves. If agreeable the river will hense forth be know as the Rio Grand and the strip of land inchich we dont build Cities as the DCZ (the De-Citied Zone). This agreement will be subject to renegotion at a later date (such as when the whole of the continent is mutualy explored)."

This enshures us access to the marble (which they may or may not know of, hopefully not). Their aceptance will likly hinge on the quality of territory to their South and East.

The river is indeed a good natural border. We won't be able to build a city in location 9, 10 and 11 though (see this thread).

I still prefer the hill SW of 10 anyway

One thing though, banning cities from being built next to the river is quite harsh given the game mechanics of cIV. rivers help in lots of ways.

also, we don'tknow how much land there is west of us yet. if theres not that much we may get boxed in?

If this continent isn't big enough for both of us then war is inevitable and all deals are off, unless we can find nearby islands to expand too or do a enough tech trading that we stay high on the power graph. The goal here is to avoid hostilities that might NOT be nessary in the long run BUT if it is we are in a good position to handle it.

Personaly I find that health is almost never an issue, happyness is a far more limiting factor, we know we can get rice and cows so I think we will be fine on Health, if not we just WHIP IT GOOD!

It is a good natural border for now and an updated border can be negotiated or land bought etc.

Remember Bananas are creative, so their culture will likely overtake ours at the border. In the scenario of "no cities right next to the river", we'll probably end up with both sides of the river covered in Banana culture.

We could ask to try and keep our culture production in our border cities the same.

they can't reduce their culture production if they're creative, we'd have to build an obelisk.

Well yes that I mean: agree for example that they can't build an obelisk while we can.
