I'm not too worried about it externally either; I believe one of his Sarantium posts acknowledged that he realizes there are team secrets and such that must be kept. Internally, he's made it clear he will not suffer fools - or "n00bs," a word he seems to like using - among his teammates, and I'm wondering just how broad his definition would turn out to be. I don't want someone on the team who tongue-lashes anyone he considers wrong, and I'm frankly worried about that happening. This is really my prime reservation; disagreements can always be resolved, by a vote if nothing else. Personality clashes are not resolvable, and can be fairly bad.

We should ask him about this, but I imagine he understands we aren't out to win. He'll probably just to be looking to bring the same intensity to doing our own mercenary thing that he was planning to use pursuing victory.

Which again brings up the same problem with us as he had with Sarantium; everyone here has a RL, and while people might dedicate a good portion of time to the game, they cannot be held away from RL if it starts taking up more time.

Again, I don't think he'll be out to win; but if he does treat Mercing about as seriously as he does winning, he might be the one who takes issue here.

I'm not sure he has grudges with many particular people, though he did mention he was staying away from the AC team because of someone...

I'd be okay with that too. Much as I have my reservations, I don't want to cut him off before I even see how he really would conduct himself in here.

If you need to remove someone from a civgroup, I think you have to PM MarkG and have him do it; I don't think it's something you can do yourself.

snoopy is right on that count.

Got permission to post this PM from EN:

I was more or less thinking we'd try for a Score victory - we don't openly war with anyone, and we try to make our Civ Stronger, so if when 2050 rolls around and we're the strongest civ around then Yeah!

        As for my personality:
If your team doesn't suck I'm productive.
If part of your team sucks I make you aware of this point, why I think it sucks, what we/they/you/I could do to change this.

        For example:
Turnplayers who go AFK due to their Wife / Children / Phone / Food while chatting about the turn over IRC suck.
The Solution is to have their Wife / Children / Phone / Food within reach of the keyboard.

People who get promoted to power, but don't perform their responsibilities suck.
The Solution is not to promote people who we know to be prone to surprise vacations, and for people not to accept promotions they can't fulfill.

People who whine about my ideas being immoral suck.
The solution is for them to stop whining, or to create an idea that is equally as practical as mine, and more moral.

See? It all works out well if people listen to my enlightened advice.
The more I talk to him the more I feel it's all at least partially in jest.

On a personal level, I am fine with having him here. Then, I got on fine with GhengisFarb on GoW when others did not on that team.

Ok, I'll put away my reservations about Enigma_Nova, and play ball so long as it doesn't get ugly around here.

I don't imagine this game being about being Comfortable.
If you disagree, you can smile at each passing era and enjoy the turns, knowing you're blissfully above quarreling, and that it's just a game for you to enjoy.

If you have some internal conflict between your desire to achieve and your desire to be blissful, it's in my nature to aggravate that - but I can't do crap to make you uneasy unless there was unrest within you to start with.

I just redefined 'win' in a way that I can win independently of the team, and our goals no longer conflict.
Winning may be everything, but Winning isn't just Civ 4. It's people, experiences, knowledge, power, and quite possibly a whole lot of other virtues that come as pleasant side-effects to 7 competing groups of people.

I'd say your distrust in regards to my self-servitude matches my distrust of everyone's ability, so the situation balances itself out.

I've already made an anti-disney thread. See what people's opinions are. After all, if I know your opinions then I can better work with you (or use you to my advantage )
That said, I would be for allowing him so long as he understands our position and accepts that Kloreep or myself could remove his authorization if we deem him getting out of line.
I accept your power, but I'm going to put a wager that one of you two goes out of line before I do. Hey, it's 2:1 odds, and I'm a bettin' man.

No, I don't tolerate fools who percive themselves as kings. This is why I can laugh at clowns, but still hate republicans.

Well, Kloreep, that's a sign of a poor team member! You should get the heck out, because your opinions are WRONG.
              : (just kidding)

Personality clashes are not resolvable, and can be fairly bad.
I've found violence to be effective at resolving personality clashes - but that's not an option over the internet, sadly.

Which again brings up the same problem with us as he had with Sarantium; everyone here has a RL, and while people might dedicate a good portion of time to the game, they cannot be held away from RL if it starts taking up more time.
I'm upset because I don't understand how real life could take up so much time as to pull you away from the game. I find it confusing and disturbing if 23 hours of every day must be spent sleeping, eating, working, studying and preparing the home with no time for rest.

I'd be okay with that too. Much as I have my reservations, I don't want to cut him off before I even see how he really would conduct himself in here.
              Well now you've seen it.
Kloreep seems intelligent, and I respect that. But do I have the traits Kloreep respects?

We have 9 members in our civgroup yet our count is at 10. Anyone know why this might be? I've never seen one overcounted before.

                          Kloreep,

I noticed the link to: Schlock Mercenary in your sig, so I checked it out some. Pretty amusing comic so far.

I took the liberty of borrowing a frame...

Welcome to the mercenary team family photo! So, who's who?

EDIT: Not enough characters in the frame... maybe I should find another one.

Apropos about what Enigma_N said, I will do my best not to allow real life (or more in my case, real death) to interfere with the Gameplay (I have an understanding wife)!

I used to have a Petey avatar, but decided to change it back to an older one of my cat after recent events. (Not sure where you are in the storyline?)

BTW, did you start from the first strip or the 1001st?

Welcome to the team. And don't worry if RL has to interfere, it does to all of us.
