ontopic: if we gift IW, GS will only see a jump in score for vox

they cannot say why, and actually the last thing they will think about is that AC broke the tech rule. GS will only know for sure when Vox tells them we gifted it.
They will be able to say why, because Vox is unable to build things equal to the power points of IW atm.

We could also grant them Construction some 5-10 turns after GS has it..

If GS finds out we gifted techs to Vox to help them in the war against GS, they'll most probably have no problem gifting Maths and Construction to Banana to help against our invasion...

Yes PJ. I think Vox are a victim of their own succcess, if they'd done badly against GS we would've had to help them. As they've been so successful we don't need to help them to get what we want: Hold GS up enough that we can kill the nanas and them make an amphibious landing in GS territory.

The only way this can work is if GS believe Bananas gifted Vox IW. We could gift techs to Bananas to improve their score and pretend we didn't making it look like Vox did, thus setting the stage for an imagined tech trade between Bananas and Vox. I don't think the risks involved in this are worth the rewards.
          bin:
I would bet that there already is some effort on GS' part to play Bananas against us.
I would be disappointed if there weren't

More worrying is the continent size and the floodplains. I think with the islands to the west and our coastal bonus we can at least draw equal on terrain advantage, but that requires investment. Boats for moving workers and troops etc.

What good either can do to Bananas, if by the time they get them we'll be at their cap already?
They'll output a cat or two at best.

GS has 3 well developed cities, Vox has one with no improvements.
It'll take GS no more than 10 turns to start pushing Vox back from where they started.

How about gifting Chos to VOX before we make Banana Splits.

That way we can keep GS busy.

Why would we give units to Vox instead of battling ourselves ? Battling is fun, so if we decide to use our units against GS, we should really do it ourselves. It won't make any difference for GS, they'll know it are our troops anyway (every Chokonu on our continent must be born in Team AC).

We cannot gift units without moving them in Vox territory, so I thought Forester was thinking about tech.

Quite likely, but GS has plenty of reason to focus on Vox as long as it looks like they can take them out eventually. However much GS may want to stunt us, if it drags out their war against Vox, why would they? It's not like the nanas are a natural ally of GS anyway, with that early southern land grab.

                      • Well, you see we're already contemplating about our priorities - to help Vox first or conquer Bananas first.

From GS viewpoint, they should be having much stronger bias about helping Bananas, because their help can easily make difference and they must've been considering Vox doomed until these latest events (and even then it's only a question of Construction).

                        • We might want to send the first couple of units towards the nanas' southern city, and attack both that city and theit capital at the same time. That way, any tech help that the nanas get will only be usable on their least developed cities, and any unit help will have to deal with the units we'll have on the southern city.

                          • That is an idea, but are we able to pull that off?

                            • Wouldn't travel time mean they're likely to have more warning of the attack if we try that? Unless we're going to use galleys to move chokus, and I don't think that's even an option with our cities atm.

                              • Yes, the more we delay, the more mobilized they will be.
They will start panicking once they notice us producing 3 or so chukos.
