  • We have to be much stronger than that! Sure, Aidun asked us 'some restraints' but we repeatedly asked both Templars and Aidun to propose terms as they were the aggressor. We contacted them on May 18th. Two weeks ago and asked them to name their terms for peace. Nothing, nil, zippo.

    What a load of crock.

    • Good grief the arrogance of it. They invent a de-facto Cease Fire in their heads and are angry that we didn't stick to it!?

The problem with his assertion that they were trying "to achieve an equitable split of the island and its resources" is that apart from Jericho they've made no attempt to expand in our direction, and have instead sat back in their under-improved land with their thumbs up their @rses!

Lets just tell them they are deluded idiots and wipe them off the board ... now where did Sooooo put those taunting pictures?

      • sorry guys - I just sent the following pm to aidun from my acct. I bet he said something like 'ruff says we have a cease fire!'. That made me angry and I ripped off this under the subject 'failed diplo'.

        Aidun,

This is a private message from me to you. Not from Team RB to Templar.

We just got an email from Herc saying that they thought we had a cease fire. What a load of rubbish. Go back and read all of our messages - 'cease fire' was never mentioned anywhere, by anyone. The last communication two weeks ago (2 weeks!) was us asking you to propose a peace deal.

Simply put, you should have actually read our messages and acted on them.

        • Don't hold anything back. Once we decimate their stack, I say we unleash everything we meant to unleash at them throughout our diplomatic relationships with them. They are trying to make themselves look like the good guys and Aidun is pulling a giant load of BS out of his ass.

          • What a load of bull. These guys are unbelievable. Krill, are you getting this down for the historian's thread? Templars keep inventing imaginary agreements and then criticizing us when we don't keep to them. Like... I honestly don't know what to say in response. Well, maybe something like this:

            Dear Templars,

You declared war on us. You pillaged our roads in neutral territory - ones you had expressly told us we were allowed to build. You misled us about seeking a border agreement, seeking to blindside us with your war declaration. You embargoed our team on tech trades, exchanging deals with everyone except our team. YOU NEVER END YOUR F***ING TURN!

We never promised to limit our warfare in any way. If Aidun suggested anything of the sort, he lied to you, deliberately or accidentally. Fact is, your management of this conflict has been abysmally poor, on both a tactical and strategic level. Don't come crying to us because your team has played a terrible game. Hell, *YOU* declared war on *US*. Karma's a bit.ch, huh?

            Realms Beyond

PS Here is a crying smiley face to go along with your pathetic whining.

OK, so we don't actually send that, but it was fun tying it. And yeah, these guys are beyond delusional. Maybe we can send them a link to an article on "cognitive dissonance"?

            • I think the best solution is to send absolutely nothing. Let's call it the "Templar Treatment". That will depress and annoy them more than any venting could achieve.

              • The de-facto 'cease fire' was also part of the reason we didn't argue to the reloading of the RB error with the Horse Archer.
                That pisses me off.
Go back to the Pitboss connection thread to read the exchange.
So what he is saying is, that without their imaginary cease fire ("I am Aidun. I do not speak for my team.") they would have argued against a reload??? To do what instead? Isn't reloading what we did as a pastime in the beginning of the Rabit/PAL war with all their errors?

Ah, yes. And since we thought we had a ceasefire we broke the rules by illegally moving a maceman to reinforce Jericho and then did not comment on the subsequent complaint, game pause and Krill ruling (unless that was done in the Templars forums.)

As for the other BS. Tell tem we thought Aidun was playing for Imperio and we honoured that cease fire, didn't we? After all, his messages came without a proper seal attached.

                • I don't think ignoring them will reflect well on us, so let's set our stall out as firmly and calmly as we can:

                  Templars,

There was no cease fire proposed from, or accepted by, Team Realms Beyond. Cutting and pasting Aidun's emails doesn't change that fact. And on his own admission Aidun wasn't empowered by Templars to make, or accept, such deals; he was, at best, acting as a go-between. The only deal agreed by Team RB was the peace treaty offered - and ignored - some two weeks ago.

                  You wrote:

"We recognised that a war between us 3 would hand the game to PaL. We thought you would grasp that fact and offer a reasonable settlement, that would allow us Templars and indeed Imperio, hope for the future." (my bold)

This assumes that we have acted unreasonably: reneged on tech deals, declared war, etc. We did no such thing. There was no peace-time discussion with our team about how we could form a mutual alliance to guarantee all our futures against the runaway train that is PAL: you & Imperio militarized and plunged our island into war, and then accused us of being unreasonable! Team RB is not the one who needs to 'offer a reasonable settlement': that onus lies with Imperio & Templars. Proposing that we hand over Cape Town, our only source of Copper & Horses, to Imperio is utterly unreasonable.

We remain open to any reasonable proposals you may have, but the war will continue until a peace deal is agreed & accepted.

You mean, our reputation with Templars could suffer?

I am fine with continuing to talk, but solely for the funny messages we get back.

EDIT: Please include at the end:
Disclaimer: Tis is not a cease fire acceptance statement.

Well the only part that would reflect bad on us is not clarifying the de-facto ceasefire business. The other points I honestly believe we are best ignoring. I'd go for:

                        Dear Templars,

We would like to state that we had no agreement with Sir Aidun about a de-facto ceasefire. Stating that we broke such an agreement is untrue and unfair. Please ask him for transcripts of the pms between us to confirm this.

We will not indulge you with responses to your other points because we are not even sure you believe them yourselves. Suffice to say that they are pure fantasy from our point of view.

                        Big Hugs and Kisses,

                          • Should we mention that Imperio just wrote us offering to declare on Templar? I like the above and think we should send something back. Definitely include the line about Audin saying he does not speak for Templar ... that is golden.

                            • I like sunrise's initial response proposal (post 1095), and the first paragraph of sooooo's (post 1106) where we suggest he ask for the transcripts. Perhaps we should say something like "Please ask Aidun for the transcripts to confirm this, although we must warn you that you may find it tedious reading his epic-length messages."

                              • I agree with dsplaisted's suggestion, and do not think that we should mention Imperio's offer.

I think we're agreed that the world is better off without Templars, so we may as well take out their stack on our terms in the open than warn them of Imperio and have it move back into a city. Any e-mail we send now is more to set the record straight than try to persuade them diplomatically.

EDIT: We might also want to question why, if they thought we had a de-facto Cease fire, they didn't run screaming to us when we moved our stack outseide Jericho, but waited until after we had taken it!
