  • We should complete the Writing trade prior to going to war, at a minimum.

I don't know enough about the rest of it to comment what we're researching or potentially looking to go after wonder wise.

    • The problem is, we can't trade any tech with PAL as long as they don't have Alphabet (which enables tech trading). In that viewpoint they're holding us hostage...

As for wonders, I'm still in favour of the Pyramids. We have a worker ready to chop, stone to quicken construction, and could always use the happiness increase of the Representation civic or the bonii of police state when going to war.

      • I'm not in the war camp, but if that is the way we are going we should be devious little buggers about it.

Let's string them along for as long as possible.....

        • Well, then, they should be expecting monarchy when they get Alphabet, silly. Right?

We're still arguing over research ourselves, and hope to be able to further discuss a second round when a path is determined.

And, we're still arguing about the wonders internally. What are they interested in, and it may help us determine what to avoid.

All this, of course, should be made all pretty sounding and all.

          • This should be the next message. I am hoping it is a typo on their part. If it is accurate we should give them an earful.

            Greetings PAL,

You most recent message said you are 28 turns away from Writing. Is this accurate?

            • ...which tells them we have view on their research...

I'll have to check if they're not misleading us with their appearant research.
What I have in mind is that they might show Writing as research for most of the turn, but change it shortly before the timer lapses or they end the turn and change it back to Writing at the onset of the new turn.

              • No, actually, it does the opposite.

They told us they are 28 turns out. We just happen to KNOW they are because they are too busy having a spitting match with Banana.

                  • I'm hoping it was a mistake and they meant they are 28 turns away from Alphabet. If I remember correctly, if we researched Monarchy we would have it in 29 turns. Since the paths were roughly even beaker count, we should get there roughly the same time.

If they are truly 28 turns away from writing, they have not been honoring the spririt of the research agreement. If they are 28 turns away from writing we could research Alphabet before they do.

                    • They're researching the Alphabet, but still around 420 turns to finish it when I checked last night.

                      • It would seem they have other priorities. Like maybe preparing for the end of our 20 turn peace agreement.

Maybe they built too many cities too fast, can't afford sci.

                        • They're spending gold towards spying on Banana, I thought.

                          • Well, I haven't seen their espionage points towards one another increase significantly since I reported that. So gold hoarding is a better possibility as it looks now.

I'll check how much extra espionage points we can generate by running 100% , for testing purposes.

Another thing. If their rate suddenly increases again, will we switch to Monarchy at once? I recommend it.

                              • I know that we know they are researching Alphabet. We don't want them to know that we know. So we have to accept their correspondence at face value. If there are no objections over the next 12-14 hours I will send my suggestion to PAL as our next correspondence.
