Actually, I just noticed that there are still paths you can take to get to north america from russia. So either I adjust the map to put more ocean in there, or everyone just agree not to use that.

it means china will have easy access to the american continent from early on in the game, because there is no ocean tile seperation at the bering straight.. it should get fixed, or we allow easy crossing over there
I don't mind holding off normal travel until I have Navigation or Magnetism. And I won't be sending Curraghs into the ocean anyway. Even with 3 Ocean tiles, it would be a 1-turn suicide galley run, which is easy enough. So changing the map wouldn't do that much. Or do you want to forbid suicide galleys?
