wow, Porter was the first commercially brewed beer wasn't it? If memory serves it is a Yorkshire drop, named after the train porters who served it (and also drank it no doubt). What percentage is that incidentaly?

They advertise as Yorkshire's oldest brewery, established in 1758. I don't know about Porter, but I just read that the Pale Ale received it's name at the start of the industrial revolution to distinguish it from the darker brews that were common at the time. I'll have to make that the next selection. Sounds to me like it predates trains, although the Taddy Porter tasted like might be from a couple centuries ago...

All the ones I'm looking at are %5 APV. Can you find Sammy's domestically very easy?

I've not seen it around much in London. Perhaps it's more popular in Yorkshire.

I prefer the Lagers to dark beers and ales.

When I choose my Smith's, Oatmeal Stout is good every now and then, but the Organic Lager is far and away the best tasting beer I've ever had...
