  • I've made a little discovery concerning the pirate sightings that I would like to share with my fellow explorers:

Since I go last, after I finish my turn I get see the AI moves (mainly barbarians). Well, I too ran into a Pirate ship off the S. American coast. I was able to attack it with one of my ships while another of my ships watched. Needless-to-say, the Pirate ship sunk my ship....but imagine my surprise when I ended my turn and the AI moved...but the Prirate ships (there are 2 pirate ships now because I lost the sea battle to it) did not!

There can be only one reason for this. The AI is NOT controlling them. One of us is.

So, my question is: Which one of us is pirating the sea ways?

    The plot thickends....

        • Witt - it is hard to imagine there are any pirate ships left. I have killed a number of them in an effort to clean up the seas, but they keep multiplying. Someone is producing them in quantities.

And you know it can't be me - as my pirates are English Sea Dogs which ARE identifiable (in other words - If I attack with them, it is a declaration of war.)

          I have my suspicians.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

Keep in mind that pirates do have the ability to enslave other ships when they beat them.

            I have my suspicions too.

            • Several of my ships got nailed by them coming back from NA about 3 turns ago. I think I had a frigate and two galleys in the northern sealane.

The next turn I had one galley

I find it very surprising that the only person NOT *****ing about Pirates is France..................

I think you will find I had my say about pirates when more than half of my merchant fleet disappeared in a two year period.

These vessels were loaded to bear with colonists and armed forces bound for the new world.

From that time my fleet ran for shelter. Sadly not all of them made it

Those that can now been seen on the high seas have an escort.

So young Sir, I would have you look to the histories before you become histerical with your historical facts

As I am currently in an expensive war in the new world, I am not spending time or money on equiping a massive fleet to track down the pirate currs...

So one hopes you will take your accusations and find a better home for them old chap

It must be realised that the leader of the pirates is among us, and must be laughing in his belly

So glad we could sort this out

Now will the real master of the Pirates stand tall and loud

if they enslave merchant naval vesels, do they keep any units that were being transported?
