First, you don't know the answer to the question. Second, CtP did stacks properly, so why is this somehow so beyond Firaxis' ability? And if Civ3 doesn't shape up by the end of the year, I doubt there will be a Civ4. Well, I certainly won't waste time on it unless Sid affirms he has taken complete control of the project, including programming himself.

Try saying that with a straight face while moving your stack of 150 workers around... Somehow I think with stack movement would be slightly easier than without
I'm not talking ONLY about workers, dammit! How many times can I say that?

And even WITH workers, making me press 'j' each turn makes no sense. Let me click a stupid 'lock stack' icon ONCE and be done with it! Christ...

Please stop piling on Yin. He was making constructive suggestions for Civ3 before most of us even knew about Apolyton. He is an institution here, a man of honor, and deserving of respect.

Getting as much as we got in patch is suprise to me.

But adding a real stacks is much greter task, not easily done in patch.

And if you hanged around in these forums not realising that, then too bad.

And I don't thing that Sid is some sort of big gurantee.
I don't have some high optinion on Sid regarding Civ games.

            Yes, he changed a lot.
Now he rarely makes constructive suggestions.

            P.S.
Yin suggestion: nice, but unrealistic for patch.

That one started well then got suspicious!

player1: I'm not talking about this particular patch, now, am I? Yes, I have ALREADY agreed it's a good step forward. I am looking much farther down the line. Is that not clear enough?

We both know that. Then again, that's not what I'm talking about.

Yeah, dont worry, I do actually realise what you are talking about

Obviously, your proposed system of stacking would IMO be the ultimate way to implement stacking in a Civ-type game. However, your comment of
they might as well not even have released this 'fix.'
seemed to me that you didn't value this compromise at all.

Believe me, what they have given us is an order of magnitude better than doing nothing at all!!

I have ALREADY agreed it's a good step forward. I am looking much farther down the line.
Looks like I'm already in agreement with you.

Yes, you are right here. I went too far in saying they shouldn't have released it. It's a step in the right direction ... I just hope they keep stepping.

                    • What Firaxis calls 'stack movement' is not really stack here. You are not moving a stack. You simply issue the same order to more than 1 unit of the same type on the same square. So, if you tell 10 tanks to move, you will still have to see them move cross the map one by one. And you still cannot stack a battleship with a carrier, so your carrier will not get sunk by a friggin man-o-war.
Getting this in a patch is nice after all. But I think REAL stack movement or even stack combat should have been part of the game at the very beginning.
