  • I've also noticed - if you look closely, the smallish island to the west - just on the border of the "fog-of-war," you can just make out a piece of a luxury...I'm thinking it might be ivory.

                  • jon - yes - but if you see above - after iron working - four techs to go to get there. I'm sure others will get there first. Then its a matter of what will they trade us for iron working - or if we really want to trade it.

                      • .... or if they find us, which is more likely when three of the civs have a two tech start on us to map making.

                        • I was thinking last night - I know scary, isn't it -

I've started about 5 games on Civ3 with archipelago - ie the most chopped up landmass possible - and not once did I start on an island.

Time will tell. Go Willy, GO!!

Simply being on a continent is not good enough...
Who knows what the territory after that chokepoint will be?(assuming it's not water)
It can be Jungle, Mountains, more Plains...
Or a fertile grassland... Controlled by Glory of War.

                            • If it is a chokepoint - then the sooner we control it , and expand into the territory beyond - the better.

Glory of War vs Immortals - I know who my money is on.

(of course - we need to find iron. Fingers crossed once again.....)

                              • Speaking of Glory of war - see where they capped their team at 15 players. I don't know about you, but a small team like ours seems to work just fine.
