Thanks for playing the turn, Witt. I banged on my CD drive enough to get it to work. I either need to replace it or start carrying my portable USB CD-RW drive with me.

We made a nice gpt jump this turn with the founding of Panama Vox, shifting around the scientist and laborers, and the road for the Irony laborer. Our next increase will come in 3 and 4 turns with the growth of Hope and The New Voice followed in 6 and 7 turns with the growth of Renewal and Irony. About that same time we will have a road near Phoenix to generate commerce for its laborer. We should increase to 12-15 gpt where we will stay for about 10 turns when our next round of growth will occur.

I also noticed that GS has given New Madrid back to RP. Is RP feeling more secure about holding out, are they afraid they will lose their other cities and need New Madrid to stay alive, or is GS moving their forces out to combat GoW or ND?

I was just wrapping up on my computer (leaving later today than I thought I would) when the save arrived, so I am playing it.

I had just completed this write up when the save arrived. I thought I would post it anyways so you can see what I am thinking for the next few turns.

Worker on grassland next to Hope: Road that grassland and then the shielded grassland. This is in preparation to make it easy for the bigger stack of workers to move around.

Worker on hill next to Hope: Move down to the grassland next to Renewal and road it.

Worker building mine on hill N-NE of The New Voice: After mine is finished move N and build a mine on the other hill.

Stack of 5 workers: Move up to forest S of Hope, then one turn to cut the forest and another to road and mine. The tile will be ready in 3 turns, the same turn Hope grows We will need to make sure that Hope puts the new laborer on this tile.

Worker on plains next to Seabiscuit: Road plains then move SW to forest and road it. Put the Phoenix labor on the roaded forest to get commerce. The worker will then move W to the hill to road and mine it.

Three workers between Seabiscuit and Memory: Move to horse hill, mine first then road it. Move to gold hill, mine then road.

Galleys: Explore by popping out one tile into the sea, skirting along the sea for one tile, then popping back in to the coast for the end of the turn. One galley is working our western shore, another is by Panama Vox to head down the west coast of Lego, the one S of GoW Island can head down the east coast of Lego. The galley between GoW Island and Bob can work its way over to our eastern shore so it can explore that sea area to our NE once we get Astronomy.

Pikes/spears: There is a lose pikeman that needs to make his way to Panama Vox. A veteran spear is making his way to Memory to replace the regular spear there. The regular spear can pull back to The New Voice until we identify a need for him (like when we build our last desert city).

Memory: Some turns down the road when the build of the harbor is complete move all the laborers to the coast to maximize food and commerce. After one turn we will have one shield produced and I propose we rush a library. After a few more turns when the border expands one laborer will be relocated to the whale for additional food and shields. After the library is built I propose we start on a temple. We can only have four content citizens so the temple will be needed to support a larger working population.

              170 AD turn played

              No trade deals.

Worker next to Hope started to road the grassland. Worker on hill moved to grassland next to Renewal. Stack of 5 workers moved to forest S of Hope. Worker completed road on plains next to Seabiscuit. Stack of 3 workers moved to horse hill.

Veteran spear made it to Memory. Regular spear moved out on his way to The New Voice. The veteran pike was already set to move into Resurrection. I moved out the regular pike and designated him to move to Phoenix. Once he arrives the veteran pike in Phoenix can move down to Panama Vox. Moved one of the veteran immorals W to the coast hill. Had no need for the other so I set him to move back to The New Voice. That will give us one vet and one elite immortal near TNV and one vet and one elite in the desert area.

Galleys continued their exploration. The one S of GoW island made the sea crossing to the coast of Lego. The galley by Bob is now N of GoW island.

Treasury 187 gold +4 gpt. Printing Press in 29 turns.

Nothing new on the RP front. I noticed GoW has changed their wonder production to Leonardo’s Workshop. A number of our old cities on North Estonia have grown to size 2. D’ville is size 3.

Our power graph has recovered a bit from the pinch point during the Voxodus. Lego is gaining power and is putting the pressure on the others. Lego is doing nicely on the culture graph. Notice that GS is strong on the power chart but Lego is improving.

                    Turn 190AD Played:

                    No trade deals received.

Regular Spearman fortified in New Voice. The city now has an Elite Immortal and a Regular Spearman in residency.

3 Workers south of Hope built road through forest. The other 2 Workers clearing forest for shield harvest.

Worker southwest of Renewal building road through grassland.

                    Veteran Pikeman is Resurrection fortified.

3 Workers northeast of Seabiscuit (or southwest of Memory, if you prefer) builds road through hills (wth supply of horses). Strategic Horse supply now connected to the empire.

Worker west of Seabiscuit moved directly south to start on road next turn that will eventually link Phoenix to the rest of our empire.

Lucy Lucca ( I guess he was lucky after all to survive the "voxodus" ) Anyhow, Lucy Lucca (Veteran Immortal) fortifed on hilltop west-southwest of Phoenix. I think this location is good for our next city...

All Gallies exporing - nothing exciting uncovered - except that Lego has a Regular Numidian Mercenary fortified on the isthmus joining our two landmasses - but this is not unexpected nor surprising.

Gold Count: 191 (Gaining +5 per turn)
                    Research: Printing Press 28 turns

                      Witt, .

May I recommend for next turn that we get a mine on one of the tiles dajacent to Hope. It expands this turn and can use the shield production.

Also - how do folks feel about rushing the marketplace in the New Voice. 188 gold, but it will increase the tax revenue. Or - would we rather hold off and rush either Hope's granary, or a harbour.

As of this turn - just played by Witt - the costs for rushing would have been:

The New Voice - marketplace - 188 gold
                      Hope - granary - 216
                      Various cities - harbours - 256-296
                      Phoenix - library - 112

What do you think? No use sitting on the cash. May as well put it to work.

Actually, if we want to rush build anything right now, my vote is for Beta's suggestion - We should rush build the Marketplace in The New Voice.

On a side note, where Lucky Lucca is right now, I think, would be a good spot for an additional city ... but a far better spot for a city would be south-southeast of Memory (on the hill just above the fishies) - Lego shouldn't have any problems with this city location...would they? Our city, once it expands would not overlap the Lego city of Panama, so I, for one, think that it should be OK with them. Any thoughts?

Witt - I think Lego does not want us to build there. I need to find the map that came with the agreement (it is referenced in the agreement, which is in the thread of everything).

I agree - it would be a great site. Maybe it is something we can talk to Lego about.

Cannot find the map. I will contact vondrack to see if he has a copy.

Also - on reflection - The New Voice will be finished its marketplace in reasonable short order. The city grows next tuen and will add shield production - a mined hill tile will double output, and bring the time to completion down to around 7 turns.

Therefore - I think our first rush job should be a harbour. The same logic as the New Voice holds for hope. It can grow and add shield production and get the granary done in a reasonable amount of time.

The outlying cities howver, need help with their harbours. Memory seems like a good choice. It can then work on a library to expand its borders and get the whale tile.

Then again - if we rushed the granary - we could produce workers to add to the other cities. Hmmmm...

Ah yes... I received a copy of the agreement map. Had to go back to the game itself to check the location...orginally I thought that that area was connected to our landmass by one tile - but it is not. It is definately Lego territory. Oh well, such is life... of course, we can still ask them for permission to build there in return for say, 100 Gold. At least this way we're not seen as asking for even more handouts without at least offering some sort of compensation in return.

Concerning the rush-build option...again, you are right Beta...Though having a marketplace up and running in The New Voice would be nice, it will be built anyhow in short order. I myself feel that we should have a harbor in at least one of our cities (to connect us with the rest of the world) - that's my two cents worth.

Yup - good point about the harbour. We do have luxuries coming our way down the road.

Now, which one? I still think Memory makes good sense.
