    10ad Turn Play Report

We came out of anarchy and went into despotism (for a brief time). All units have been moved per Harry's recommendations. The five workers near the New Voice have cleared the forest adding 10 shields to New Voice's coffers. All other workers are roading, except for the one NNW (keypad 7) who has started planting a forest.

Our leading galley will make landfall next turn. All other galleys have moved forward as well. We should have two more cities settled in two turns, with five more the turn after. So we'll have to start giving some thought to the city naming conventions.

There is a barbarian horseman on the Irony city site so I moved our elite immortal down to the mountain. Just in case the horse gets lucky and kills the pikeman on the mountain (which is hopefully what it will try to do) then there is a backup and we won't lose the settler. If the barb goes NNE (keypad 9), then we can move to the city site and move the immortal around to keep the barb happy.

Ended the turn with a switch back to anarchy. We should come out of it in 3 turns....just as most of our cities will be settled. Printing Press in 37 turns.

    A quick look: http://apolyton.net/upload/files/Rhothaerill/10ad1.jpg

An update on the Bobian war. It appears that Neu Demogyptica has taken more of Roleplay's lands. Santiago, Leon, and Vigo are now part of ND. On the other side Gathering Storm now has Toledo as well.

It appears GS has also entered the fray against ND as they are at war with each other in the foreign advisor box. Glory of War is still not at war with anyone despite their stated intentions in the main forum.

Trading: Lego has a current trade with GS
GS has a current trade with Lego, GoW, and RP
RP has a current trade with GS and GoW
GoW has a current trade with RP and GS (which they will probably lose if they ever declare war)
ND is not currently trading with anyone else.

I see GoW has not sent any more gold payments.

Nope. Forgot to mention that. Sorry.
Whomever is dealing with GoW should probably "remind" them.

I did remind them before I left for the weekend. I guess they need another nudge.

            30 AD turn played.

GoW sent 100 gold to investigate Zaragoza and then also requested we investigate Toledo. I turned them down. We can not investigate (or do anything diplomatically it seems) while in anarchy.

            Two more turns of anarchy.

Our elite immortal took out the barbarian horseman on the mountain near the Irony city site. He suffered no damage.

Three settlers moved into position for founding cities next turn. Four more will move into position next turn, just in time to settler cities the turn we come out of anarchy.

Treasury at 258 gold. Printing Press in 36 turns.

            Our new home: http://apolyton.net/upload/files/Har...egos_Minor.JPG

GoW has taken and razed one of the cities RP gave to GS: http://apolyton.net/upload/files/Har...AD_RP_East.JPG

GoW has changed that build they have been working on for ages in Imperial City to the Sistine Chapel. It looks like Lego will not get it.

The town of Inchon is back in GS hands. They used the gift city, take it back, to teleport their units south where I think their gallies were. With the Litehouse GS can safely make the short hop over to southern Bob and land troops. They probably already have some there now with lots more on the way.

            Edit: Fixed the links.

Edit: Argh! I forgot about our workers. They completed the road where they chopped down the forest last turn (E of the city) and started to mine the tile. Two workers in the other roaded grassland tile (NW of the city) were available. I moved one to help mine the other tile so the mine can be completed next turn. The other worker moved up to the hill where he will start a road next turn.

Harry, for some reason the two links you posted don't seem to go anywhere.

I thought it was just 'Poly messing with me again, but I've got that too.

It was a copy and paste problem. I first posted in the wrong thread. When I copied it to the new thread it copied the link with the ... in it like it displays in the post, rather than the full url. Fixed.

Thanks Harry. Actually, Legos Minor doesn't look too bad (except for its small size) - we should still be able to build a rather compact/strong/mutually protected (because of the closeness of our cities) empire.

Its only real problem is too many hills and mountains without enough food sources (e.g., bonuses, irrigatable flat land) to support them all. A couple of fishes near all those hills in the east would have been nice. We will be able to build a small and productive society, but the top end of our pop is limited.

I think that about says it. You can make something out of just about any land even if it doesn't look too nice at the start. Legos Minor has a lot of hills and mountains, but despite that in a few dozen turns our empire will be well on it's way to being "good" again. It's probably a good thing that Legos Minor isn't a great land or Lego would have already settled it and we wouldn't be here.

Besides, there might still be some islands not yet settled by the other teams. We can hoepfully expand our empire by grabing these.

If we look through some old threads I posted my belief that there were some islands that have not been discovered yet. My reasoning is that there is no tundra in any land we know of. The only piece of known land that may get close enough to a pole is the botton of Legoland, but I have my doubts about that. So I figured there must be some islands with Tundra. Given the large unexplored area to the north of us I believe there is another island, or group of small islands, up there that has tundra. It is possible it may also extend to the ocean area NE of Estonia.

There is certainly a possibility of other islands we can settle. But I have one question...was this map doctored up before we started playing it or just a randomly generated map? If it was doctored then it's entirely possible that the lack of tundra is because it was taken out. I'm currently playing Boot Camp II from MZO (it's in the same vein as Apolyton University) and the map was doctored. I've uncovered the entire map and there are two whole tundra tiles on the entire map.
