  • Response from Lego. Not much, but better than a sharp stick in the eye!

    Dear BigFree,

We have had a big discussion in our forum regarding how to help Spain. While we are aware of your needs and fully acknowledge them, there has been a number of concerns raised, mostly regarding our own security. At the moment, we're the only civ with Astronomy - and that helps us with our defenses big time, by making it easier to focus only on those parts of our long coastline that can (theoretically) get under attack prior to Astronomy/Navigation.

We understand Spain is still standing and fighting, but we believe your power is somewhat less than sufficient to allow turning down requests for valuables you might have - and Astronomy would be such a valuable... Additionally, we fear it would take you a long time to research Navigation (which we understand is the real focus here) anyway, making the value of the gift quite arguable, as it's benefit would be uncertain and quite difficult to reap, while it's potential downside (another team acquiring it by whatever force it would be able to exert upon you) would be present from turn 1.

We will send you our only luxury, dyes, as accepted on this turn. We have promised these to Vox Controli, but until they finish the first harbour, creating a trade link between us and them (maybe even a bit longer), we will be providing them to you instead.

    Best regards,
    vondrack, the FAM of Legoland

        • I say we take everything we can form Lego before. if we could manage them to promise not selling anything to GoW and ND, we could try sime bold moves to pillage their horses and the like.

          • Why don’t we send them some Duplo blocks instead?

            Comment

            • Because they already have lots of them. I propose to send them Lego-flowers, looks nice on the negotiation table and also in Vondracks office. I'm but afraid that without navigation it will take quite a long time to bring them to Legoland, so that they will be rotten when they arrive, but that is their fault and not ours, we have good intentions, but if they don't cooperate...

              • Aren't Duplo blocks the blocks that can't be used with Legos? Or is that some other company?

Duplo is lego for babies. The blocks are so big that they can't eat them. You can mix lego and duplo but it doesn't look great, the blocks fit, but it looks ugly.

However, lets go back on topic. This thread is supposed to be used for info only. Keep the discussion elswhere

                  • I finally caught ZargonX online for once and had a chat with him about various things.

He's open to the idea of pursuing a long-term joint goal of containing teams that wish to win the game through military victories and, essentially, "let the best builders win". Along these lines, I suggested we might work with Lego and any others open to this to build a more stable global security situation.

I also discussed with him the possibility of us providing Legoland one of each of our extra luxuries once we have (if we can) reclaim our lands, assuming we can work something out that would help both of us.

We're not going to win this game, but we'd like to see ourselves survive to the end of it and help whoever does win, so a more stable global environment in which we are able to peacefully aid the leading players who have NOT attacked us appeals to us.

ZargonX and I agreed that we should discuss more of this later.

                    -----------

For the record inside RP... I'm not promising Legoland anything, just trying to get the conversation going on the benefits of long-term cooperation with us, should we survive the war. I want Legoland to see a tangible benefit in us surviving and potentially even another aid in their path to victory.

                    • Not that we should take this very seriously at all, but I felt that I should at least post it for the team.

PM from Aggie (leader of GoW)
                      cease fire offer
We are hereby offering a10 turn cease fire effective immediately. During this cease fire NO troops can enter the other’s territory and all invaders must withdraw. Additionally no galley movement is to take place.
                      Aggie
                      My respose was one word:
                      Why?

                        • The only way we could have improved on this would have been to make use of our special Spanish upside-down question mark

                          ¿

and its friend, the upside-down exclamation mark

                          ¡

(I thought there was a smiley that rolled around, sometimes being upside down but I must be thinking of somewhere else)

                          • Aggie responds to my "Why?" PM:
Unfortunately more specific reasons we can not give. But we definitely want to give peace a chance and perhaps give a chance for our two teams to help mend fences.
                            Aggie
                            My reply:
                            Um,

I don't know if there's much point in trying this, Aggie. My team really really really REALLY hates GoW. I cannot communicate that clearly enough. "Peace" isn't something we will consider so long as there are GoW soldiers in Spain.
