First, we will soon be done with the "scouting" phase and will begin to enact the "patrol" phase. We have four warrior divisions: Madrid, Pamplona, TEG, and Magyar (who have proven their worth). These 4 will soon be reassigned to the northern border area to not only patrol for enemy invaders, but to also watch and kill barbarians.

I need someone to oversee all four of these divisions and to coordinate their activities in the north so that Spain will be more secure. One of the commanders of these groups shall rise to command them all.

Within 12 turns we will have a stable of tamed horses with which to ride, and will teach our warriors to fight while riding on these horses. We will then create two groups of horse riding warriors. The first group will patrol the southern wilderness in search of barbarians. The second group will help protect Cow Valley.

I will need prospective commanders for both groups. All of these groups will also need names.

We will name all units from each group, and assign each division a number.

My family has just invested in a gold mining company up North. They asked me to go there and whip the slaves to work.
Well, I said NO. It seemed very little challenging just whipping slaves who couldn't fight back, so we hired a fat ugly little person (I think it is a male) called Texceira to do the whipping... Oh, and he loved the job! Now, what I'm looking for is a job in The Spanish Army...

soldiers

As my family is moving from Pamplona to the City of Nohorns (ooc cows are called horns in local Pamplonian dialect ooc) I would very much like for my oldest son Emilio Meneñdez de Nuñez to be part of this new endavour to tame and train these magnificent animals in warfare. I will let him speak for himself.

I am Emilio Meneñdez de Nuñez and I have long wished to join the training grounds of Madrid to be able to help protect my beautiful homeland from the barbarous enemies that prowl in the jungles and mountains. Unforunately I have been requested by my family to stay in Pamplona and be part of our family enterprise. As we are leaving and starting anew I am released of any such duties as my younger brothers are now fully capable of taking over the business.

I hope therefore that I may now be given a place amongst the soldiers to be trained in Saragossa in the near future. Thank you for your time.

Great Togas,

Since Barcelona will produce a worker soon, and maybe a second later, and the Madrid worker will come soon too, I demand that our Magyar warrior stay near Barcelona to protect them against possible barbarian attacks. I'm affraid that the Magyar campement will appear again and that the alone warrior of Barcelona could not be an enough defense if several barbarians were attacking at once.

Hear me, Great Togas, the people of Barcelona is very worried about that...

If we have no troops around here, I'm willing to go out there with the long rare metal-bladed weapon my brother (god bless his soul) sent me from his TEG-expedition, and face those pesky barbarians alone, if I have to.

Also, with the bronze he gave me, I can make some cruel wires to tie up the barbs with. I could call them barbwires.

Let the Spanish Army gain as much experience as possible by defeating these stinking uncivilized tribes.

Barbarian Patrol

This is plan #1, but the only real changes would be in the Jungle Area, due to the establishment of the next city in about 7 turns.

From the 1990BC Map:

Madrid Disperses the Barb Camp next turn and the recupperates and finishs exploring the SE coast line (we still need that Info, for city placement). It them will start a curcular sweep of that area for the next group a Barbs that Might appear.

Maygars go and take care of the Barbs on the Tamali Plains. It them will follow a route that will stay mostly in the highlands, to better see any barbs.

Pamplona will Move to the West coast and finish the exploration there (so that we can better plan the cities that will be placed there). It them will then do the rest of the Patrol in that section and Repeat. This might be reversed, If there is a Barb Camp that is somewhere NW of TEG.

TEG will follow, Basher North and into the Jungle a bit. By that time, we should have Our next boarder City built and he can eiter Patrol that part of the Jungle, or Join Madrid in Patroling that section of the Jungle.

For now, the Bulger Warriors will be staying with Pamplona.

IF any of our Warriors attain Veteran status, when their patrols bring them close to Pamplona, they will be replaced with the Bulgers, so thay can try to gain experiance out in the field.

As we get a couple of Horsemen built, we should hopefully have 1/2 of our Warriors at Veteran Status and the rest up to Regular. One of the horsemen will travel to the Eastern Grassland, to better Patrol that area. We should also have the Iron connected and be able to upgrade our Warriors.

I wouldn't the Magyar warrior leaving the Barcelona-Madrid area at the moment. With two workers there, I would have Magyar staying in this area (after beating the Bulgar tribe) until Barcelona will become better defended (after building a Spearman).

BTW, I'm pretty sure that another barbarian camp will appear soon in the same area. Magyar should wait calmly until this happens, to beat them, and so on.

That's why I have it's route to go in that general area, so that it will stay relatively close to Barcelona.

The Magyars should stay within 4 tiles of Barcelona (with the exception of raids on Barbarian huts) until Barcelona can create an additional defender.

By this time we should have horsemen to serve our Barbarian harvesting needs. The Barcelona warrior will be moved to the front to serve as a sentry.

I have controled the Pamplona warriors for far too long. I need a general to take command of this division. Their goal would be to clear out the last remaining "dark patches" of coastline on our west coast, and then to MOVE NORTH to the jungle to patrol for enemy units and settlers. Should they come within range of a barbarian settlement, they are to destroy it immediately.

The new general of this unit shall also come up with an original name for this unit.

PlagueRat Your TEG has been conscripted for far too long by yours truly. This next turn, the GoW should be out of our nation. You will then retain control of this division. You may choose to rename it as well. You have two options. Either travel the western shore, northward, to learn more about the world beyond us, or to patrol the jungle for enemy units that may threaten Spain. Do know that, should an emergency occur, we will call you home immediately.

Since my brother was an explorer, and a guild member who died during the task of exploring the jungle, I would like them to travel Northwards to learn more about the world. They can also serve as an observator corps in those areas when a situation arise there.

I myself, walking in the footsteps of my brother, really do enjoy journeying, but also fighting.

And a job in the Spanish army is just what I need. Colonel of the renamed TEG unit Guardia Observatória (GuObs) perhaps?

Or does Bashers Removal Ezcadrone (BaRemEz) sound better ?

PlagueRat -- You have command of this division. I ask only that you verify that GoW has left our region and then set forth on a trek to discover more about the north-western world. You should now post orders in the turnthread and also post orders to rename this unit if you so desire.

lzprst -- You have been given command of the Pamplona Warriors. You are to now post orders in the turnthread. Please post a new name for this unit (if you so choose). Your assignment is to first clear out the black tiles near the sea, and then to move north to the jungle to patrol for enemy units.

I need a General to rise forth from amongst the ranks to help Spain plan and develop our military. Our nation needs a single voice who will speak for our military needs and preparation.

We need a leader. Who should be given this great responsibility?

Our Military deployment plans need to once again be reviewed. Now that we have a General, I urge him to express his opinion on this topic as well.

I have assigned a Spear Division to serve as worker protection for the workers who are building the IRON ROAD. He should arrive with additional workers in 2 turns to the construction site. At this time, GuObs will be free for a new assignment.

The Ferocalvos have been sent north of Saragossa after an extended period of R&R to patrol the jungle. This is not very exciting work or very rewarding work for commander LzPrst, and consideration must be made about the future of this proud division.

I would like to reward the Ferocalvos and historic GuObs by upgrading both regiments with swords, however, or borders need to be protected. They may simply be stationed near Saragossa and will use the barracks there once they are completed (after the current temple build).

I would like to see 3 warriors north of madrid and NE of Saragossa watching for enemy movement. I'd also like to see us create a force of @4-6 horsemen who rotate fighting barbarians, becoming elites.

Right now we have 7 warriors. We should have the funds to upgrade 6. Keeping 3 on our border means creating 2 more warriors, and then horsemen and settlers/spears from Madrid.

However, with every new unit we make, we lose one gpt until we get a few more cities built. We need to seriously consider the effects our military will have on our economy and begin discussing what our limits should be on military development.

Honorable Lord. I believe it might be time for me to retire from my leadership. I have travelled with my men for many centuries, and I am reaching the age when I can no longer participate as vigorously in battle as I used to. Commander Skiff can be trusted with the patrolling duties required.

As for our military, I am beginning to believe that the great enemy will not come in my lifetime. I think we should focus on expanding into our vast uncolonized lands as soon as our warriors are given swords.
