I agree with Pottery after Bronze working as building a granary in Legopolis will help us pump out settlers and workers faster.

However, I am not really sure if we are going to be able to fit in a granary anytime soon. We should build at least 2 settlers from Legopolis before we build a granary.

However, after Pottery, I reserve judgement until we have a better grasp of what our actual situation is. We should have a much better idea in 10 turns or so.

Actually we have Ceremonial Burial already by a hut (as well as Warrior Code by hut too).

In 8 turns after we reach Pottery, I think that it is time to go after one of the strategic resources techs.

Since we have Warrior Code already and its Archers, I suggest that we go after The Wheel next to aid in our exploration and to give us a "Speed" unit.

Not sure what to suggest after the Wheel quite yet.

Thanks to warrior Conan, I just read the cronicles. I GOTTA get up to date on these things.

            -------------3000 BC--------------

I've just seen Tiberius took into account the possibility to get writing from the goody hut. I'd like us to discuss what to research if we are lucky enough to get it.
I would go for Iron Working : as Sharpe said, we might have to secure Iron sources when building city #4. Also, if we have a neighbour on our island, we'll have to make sure we have all potential to strike back, should they attack us.
Also, map making is an expensive tech (twice as expensive as IW), and we don't have enough cities / population to reasearch it in a time-efficient fashion yet.

So I'll edit Tibi's unofficial orders to research IW in the hope we get Writing from the goody hut. Naturally, if most people oppose this decision, or if someone convinces me MapMaking is better now, I'll change the orders back. Please comment

Never mind, I've just seen Jack played the turn about 12 hours ago, and we got a free warrior from the hut.
Jack : could you please send me the save (Rcoadou_boospam@ifrance.com , remove the _boospam), so that I can tweak the sliders please ? I also think redstar1 may be interested to know what to do with his 4th warrior

Spiffor, please-please don't edit my post. One, I hate this happening , and two: the turn was already played. We'ge got a warrior from the hut (at least this is what I've understood from Jack's post; Radek hasn't updated yet the Chronicle thread).

Bah, crossposting with Spiffor (you have to forgive me: I'm on dial-up, so what I see on my screen is sometimes outdated from a long time ).

                    What next ?

We have now explored quite much of our surroundings. The ishtmus sadly leads to a peninula rather than another landmass, and it seems we won't have any neighbour near Legopolis.

My suggestion is to go for Mapmaking. It seems we won't have any rival on our landmass north of Legopolis for the next few millenia (and north of Legopolis should there be iron, oil, saltpeter, and maybe horses), and our expansion plans south of Legopolis are pretty much dictated by the fertile lands.

If we don't discover any neighbours when writing is discovered, I will order to research MapMaking. But I am open to debate. Please comment on this

Yes, by all means, let's go for Map Making. I can see no other tech even remotely matching the significance of Map Making for us now. We need to get off our landmass, seeking other civs, trading techs... Once we find others, our isolation will become our great advantage. Until then, it's both an advantage and a disadvantage at the same time.

Getting Mapmaking is vitally important. If we wait, our extra techs might be useless.

Map Making. Preferably followed by Literature; it seems we're missing out of the tech trading boom - we don't even have contack with ND, the most well-known Civ it seems - and I think we should go for the Great Library.

Yes, I think that we're definately going to need teh great library. If we are that isolated, we're oging to fall far behind in the tech race if everyone else is trading. Though, on the upside, they could all get caught up in a war while we happily sit it out and elighten ourselves.

Map making probably next - unless we find someone in the southeast.

I still think that we have to get those strategic resource techs sooner rather than later, but yes I do agree that the GL will be crucial if we are truly isolated. Although Vondrack's excellent city location suggestions would cover most of the known area - the revealing of the strategic resources would aid us in figuring out the order in which we build our cities perhaps.

I wonder if Literature might be more important than even Map making if we are isolated (though I suspect that Literature is also more expensive).

While I would count Literature as more important in the long run (because of the GL), it'll take a while to build; and until then, we can use the Pyramids or the Palace as a shield holder.
