Vassals are the peasants you have working your lands. Each player starts with one Vassal. You can bid on others if we ever capture opposing civ's workers. Each vassal is the equivilent of 1 Labor.

If you wish to build a Storehouse on your tile you can use your vassal to convert Shields into that Storehouse. The vassal could convert 1 Shield per turn (so just using the Vassal you start out with would take 2 turns to finish the Storehouse - as long as you had one Shield each turn for him to use).

Do you have to indicate somewhere that you are building something? And how do you hire labour? Do you have to say "I hire labour" and for what price?

        Yep. Something like:

        I bid $20 for 1 Labor in X.
The Labor goes to the highest bidder, so as X has Pop 3 (meaning 3 Labor available) as long as 3 other Players haven't outbid you, you should get a Labor from X which can be used to build something in X or on any tile you own in X's radius.

        To use the Labor:
I use my Vassal and 1 Labor from X to convert 2 Shields into a Storehouse on my estate.
As long as you won the Labor and have 2 Shields you would finish the Storehouse that turn. Otherwise you might only partially complete it and have to work on it in following turns.

Ok and you state this in the city's thread?

You would state it in the Trading Session thread where your posting what your selling/buying in that session.

So tell me if I understand this correctly... I can use my vassal without bidding on labor to build a storehouse, right??

If I have a Vassal and no labor, and commit 2 shields, I could complete a store house in 1.... or 2 turns?? If I did not have labor bid on, would it only be worthwhile to invest 1 shield per turn????...and presumably I would not be able to sell those shields on the market, right????

                A Vassal is a Labor.

Basically, a vassal is a Labor owned by a player. Each player starts with 1 Vassal. You may buy more Vassals when they are auctioned off (we get to auction off a new Vassal for every Worker we capture).

Each city has Labor available equal to is Pop. So, a size 3 city has 3 available Labor that can be bid on by the players each turn. The 3 highest bids would get the Labor for a Size 3 city.

Each Vassal/Labor can convert 1 Shield into some sort of building.

So, your Vassal can convert 1 Shield per turn into a building. Working by itself it would take it 2 turns (trading sessions) to convert 2 Shields into a Storehouse. If you hired a Labor from the city or made a deal for the use of another Player's Vassal for the turn you could build the Storehouse in 1 turn if you had 2 Shields.

With the discovery of Ironworking a Smithy can convert 1 Iron into 3 Tools. A Tool acts like a Shield but also increases the amount of work a Labor can do (Tools represent hammers, nails, saws, etc).

A Vassal/Labor can convert 1 Shield per turn.
A Vassal/Labor can convert 2 Shields and 1 Tool into 3 Shields worth of a building.

Thank You for your response, GF. You really put a lot of effort into this game, and it is appreciated!

                  7) "Specialty Shoppe" bonus applies to a specific type of commerce (ie, Horses, Dye, Spice, etc) and only that commerce receives the bonus, but the bonus is 75%, not 50%
would "etc." cover gems as well... the reason I ask is because gems already have a 25% bonus... so if I were to build a "Jewlery Shoppe" with expert jewlers would my gem commerce beequal to 75% plus 25%= 100 % ... or would the 75% void the 25 % and as such my gem commerce would be worth 75%....

or if I just build a shoppe... would my gem commerce be worth 50% (25%+25%) whilst all my other commerce would be worth 25%????

                  Thanks.

It would equal just 75%, because you would only be building the Speciality Shoppe.

Gems get a 25% bonus in the Commerce market because they are Gems.

A Specialty Shoppe for Gems would add a 75% bonus to the final sell price.

So your Gems would sell at a 100% bonus or double the final sale price in the city you have the Specialty Shoppe.

Consolidated all the rules so far in the first post here.

Vassals don't give shields, they use them.

Vassals will turn 1 shield THAT YOU ALREADY OWN, OR WOULD OTHERWISE ACQUIRE, into LABOR, which can be used to build things.
