They have at least one immortal and at least one pikeman according to the foreign advisor.

Shiber,
Does the Foreign Advisor's only talk about units that they've built as their best units? I thought it showed any units they could build... I might be wrong, though -- I'd always assumed it was could build, but never actually thought about it or ran a test on it.

No, it only shows units they've built.
As evidence of that, before the recent turnchat the foreign advisor said that the Persians have the pikeman but he didn't say anything about immortals. Now however, he does.

I haven't heard anything yet that should result in us changing the plans of Conquest for the Persian heartland.
If anything needs to be done, build more Knights and less civic improvements so the war doesn't bog down.

AI: I sure wish Jon would hurry up and complete his turn, he's been at it for over 1,200,000 milliseconds now.
And now for the good news and the bad news... (mostly good)
Good News... Our recent victory in Pasagarde makes it easy for us to cut trade route from Arbela (Persian City that has only trade route w/ English.) With main empire cut off from iron source we probably won't encounter more than 4-5 immortals at most even if they try rush building.
Bad News: First of all as you can figure out by now, Arbela still will be able to build Immortals. But the city doesnt seem to have major production power. populace of 5 with mainly grassland that are mined and 3 silks. One city alone will not upkeep enough immortals to endanger our campaign IMO.
Second, Within antioch territoy is a source of iron that has not been connected yet. But we don't have to worry about that either since antioch is almost surrounded with only one trade route linking main empire (which can also be cut off at the same time arbela is cut off).
And to end the whole unsolved mystery, it is the english who is supplying the iron, since they must be not needing them. Persia has connection to English and in the recent save, is the only trade partner to Persia.
We need to figure out where the Iron is coming from to block it. Has anyone used Cntrl Shift M to see the uncluttered map and compare Iron sources within Persian territory?
You can trade away your last/only source of any resource; I have done it several times myself. I doubt the AI would be willing to do the same thing, though.
Also, my understanding is that Anarchy is a random number instead of a specific number, lasting 4-8 turns IIRC. At least, the games I have played, the number of turns varied, even within the same game.
england probably doesnt have much use of iron... although if you EVER try to put their only resource on the trade table, your advisor says "They will never accpet this deal" which indicates its quite impossible to make a trade. Like cities for example, no matter how insignificant, its always "they will never"... but You can get cities in certain circumstance so I don't see why not Persia persuaded England to cough up iron, especially if England isn't active militarily and Persia offered a too-good-to-pass-up deal.
