This of course, includes the Chinese withdrawl from the war with the Adriatic League, and the Mali withdrawl from the war with Mongolia and Australia. Though some points still remain to be decided between Mali and Australia, there WILL be peace.

There may well be peace with Mali; but any Mali units found within striking distance of any AL or Aussie city in NA will be regarded as enemy...Likewise any Aussie units near Mali cities should also be regarded as their enemy until we build a more trusting relationship.
It lingers long in Aussies memories, the sinking of our diplomatic vessel in the Med.

King Shakeem is pleased to announce that papers formally declaring a Zulu and Mali Alliance have been signed. Africa will be united in trade, military as well as all other worldly affairs. This alliance is built both on mutual interests and for security reasons. As African neighbors we wish to solidify and strengthen the best developed continent in the world and lead our African people to glory. We will also be gaining China as an Ally and hope that our newly strengthened relationship can benefit us both. With Shareef Ingania X's wisdom and diplomatic skills, combined with Shakeem's massive army and research team and the quickly up and coming Prometheus, the Sino-African Alliance aims to be the most potent team ever assembled on this fair earth..........

OOC - Thanks to Markus, EASTHAVEN got his Civ working without the CD but it was too late for the last session which was cancelled.

It's pretty insane that a guy who buys Civ MP can't play cos of the stupid CD check. How archaic. We lost a whole 4 hour session cos one player had his CD pinched! Hope Civ 3 is a bit smarter than this. And I don't feel at all guilty using cracks in this type of situation. Seven players hung around for 2 hours or more while we tried to sort this out... ridiculous.

-----
(the story)

Mali, the Aussies are happy to consider peace provided none of your units are in any war zones as designated. This is NOT negotiable. Any units found within the warzones will be killed instantly, unfortunately.
We have no plans to attack your cities but we will if you launch any attacks at all.

Paul considered the Chinese situation quite seriously and acted in good faith regarding foreign policy, sensitive to Mali concerns over the size of the Pacific Pact.
(OOC, We were bothered about an AI started civ with huge disadvantages and greatly aided by Pacific Alliance with cities, techs etc being assaulted by a militarised Mali)
For you to now form a new 3-way alliance with China and Zulus is quite provocative. Are YOU senstive to our position on this?

Well things happen, and I understand this, but lets place blame where its due. Its not Microproses fault East didnt have his CD, its East's fault he didnt have his CD. Or maybe his friends, I dont know that situation. Ethier way, he should have told us before hand and tried to get the crack working a day in advanced.

err, EASTHAVEN did post on the 25th.
None of the cracks worked and no one else had any ideas so we needed to wait till we got hold of Markus. His crack works, if you know what I mean...

But, I'm making a general statement that it is archaic to rely on a CD check as proof of purchase, regardless. It is totally inefficient.

Yeah, hang in there everyone. We had a bit of bad luck but this is a great game and I agree, we need a concerted effort by everyone to get it happening in a regular BIG groove; ie 8pm USA start and at least a 4 hour session....

Damn that Drake for allying with Mali!

I really really don't want to see this game dissolve. It's just starting to get interesting and I'd hate to see it die. But if we keep having weeks where people are either late, leave early, absent, or un-prepared, this game will certainly fade away. I'm not pointing fingers, because its not important. I'm not trying to single anyone out. We just really need to come together as a group and get into some sort of groove. You have to believe me, the last thing I want to do is end the game, but I've wasted a lot of my time and am going to be walking a really thin line for the next few weeks. With a lot of interest and dedication, (and a little luck ), this game can and will make it to the end. Let's all work to make this happen.......

To alleviate tensions between the nation-state of Mali and the Republic of Australia, the nation-state of Mali does agree to broker no interference in the ongoing war between the Republic Australia and Europe. Further, no Mali unit or ship will enter within the radius or hinder their movement to an objective until the ceasing of hostilities.

Consul Keating, we cast no ill intent on your fine civilization by allying with the Mali. We hope for our trade routes to continually improve. At this time, the Mali have much to offer and they have recently gotten more in touch with their African roots. King Shakeem must take care of his people, and at this juncture, the Mali have the most to offer.........Shakeem is a business man after all..........

Excerpt from Europa Newsletter "La Europa"...

Times are changing my fellow Europeans. The United Adriatic Kingdoms are floundering as the world's stage changes. The dominant alliance is no longer thousands of miles away. It is now a mere boat ride south.

The dominant alliance no longer holds us in contemptious eyes, it no longer calls us her sworn enemies. The dominant alliance is a wise and munificent one, it makes enemies of those who harm it, friends of those who help it.

Europe must change.

How long will we fight Australia? Mongolia? How long will we spill the blood of our own people and of theirs? When will this all end? How will it end?

If you ask King Cosimo he shall tell you it is only a matter of time. He will tell you that our troops are the best in the world, that our military is unmatched by any other in the history of this planet. For how long will we call ourselves Adriatics? We are not Adriatics. The world refers to us as the Europeans. They fight the Euro-Australian war, they fight the Euro-Mongolian war, there was once a Euro-Mali and Euro-Mongolian war.

It is time to end this, it is time to end the shackles of oppression. It is time for Europe to claim her name, to claim her glory and to end this once and for all.

We must overthrow Medici, we must overthrow the Habsburgs. We must destroy our enemies and reclaim what is Europa's.

We must not stop until we liberate all Europeans under Australian dominance. We must not stop until we end Mongolia's dominance of Israel. We can not let Israel, our closest and most trusted ally, become the new China. We must help our Israeli brothers, they are our only friends in the world right now.

Viva la liberte, viva la Europa!

My dear Shakeem, I suggest that you trade more strongly with your ally in that case.... Paul is a business man too and will only match you caravan for caravan. But if you think the Mali cities will profit you more, fine

Alright its almost 6:00pm on Wednesday night, which means in a little over 24 hours those seven crazy bastards will again congregate around their computer moniters, get more radioactive light-rays soaked into their once healthy ocular glands, and play themselves a lil' HOTW!

There's been a two week relaxation session between tomorrow's game and last session so everyone should be ready to go. The questions are quite extensive now; What exactly will come of the Mali-Sino-Australian deal? What will the position of the new dominating alliance system (Zulu-Mali-China) comprise of? How will the war between the A.L. and the Pacific Pact turn out? Will it end? What new event will set the stage for the next few centuries?

Nobody knows, but we will begin to find out in a little over 24 hours as the History of the World continues tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get a site update shortly thereafter. I hope everyone reads this and I especially hope everyone remembers that we DO play tomorrow night at around 7:00pm, this is not set in stone so our normal time will be 8:00pm, but we are gonna try and play an hour early to make up for last week's non-session.

Hopefully everything works this time.

peace.

After much fighting and capturing of AL territory in the Carribean, Paul was invited to a world summit to discuss the problem of the escalation of World Wars.
It all started when the AL ordered a mere Aussie trireme be destroyed.... WW1 started with one bullet..... in Sarajevo. The sinking of this tri seemed to be of even greater proportions. Full scale world war was awaiting us.

The World diplomat and chairperson, the leader of the Mali (Chris/Manatauh), otherwise known as a computer God, called a summit to discuss this gigantically dangerous situation.

Others will post more, but here is an edited record made for Paul (me/deity)
---

From <CAPO> Imperator Lorenzo II (A.D. 780): God's typing... shhh
From <Chris> Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): in the Middle East, no units allowed within a cities radius
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): in the Americas
Cuba and Panama remain Australian
Paul keating - deity (A.D. 780): i agree with that, allies?
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): Mexico is AL - 22,64 being the border
From Consul SunTzu VI (A.D. 780): Agreed
From Consul Easthaven X (A.D. 780): hmmm........
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): I feel this is completely fair
From Consul Easthaven X (A.D. 780): is that the proposal?
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): it prevents any suprise attacks in Asia
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): and punishes the AL for its aggression
Paul keating - deity (A.D. 780): border in america is 16/58
- AL lost that city
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): how about 20,62
- surely you would consider 20,62 completely fair
From Imperator Lorenzo II (A.D. 780): I won't accept that, the original border Chris suggested I will accept
Paul keating - deity (A.D. 780): 20/62 is ok - Come on AL
From King Prometheus (A.D. 780): Well then we have a problem since Lorenzo does not agree to that
From Imperator Lorenzo II (A.D. 780): No you son of a *****
From Imperator Lorenzo II (A.D. 780): You fv<kers made me the bad guy
Paul keating - deity (A.D. 780): 20/62 is fair
From Imperator Lorenzo II (A.D. 780): Screw you
From Consul Easthaven X (A.D. 780): the fort i took over is the border between AL and Mong. nation
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): 20/62 is fair im afraid capo - i'm looking at the map you traded me capo, he has units in the Yucatan, you do not
From Imperator Lorenzo II (A.D. 780): You know what
From Imperator Lorenzo II (A.D. 780): This is a surrender
From Imperator Lorenzo II (A.D. 780): I AM NOT SURRENDERING
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): Easthaven, yes, youll have to leave, you can pillage it first (destroy it) if you want
- but the idea is that if someone declares war, they wont reach anothers units in one turn
- so no suprise attacks
From Consul Easthaven X (A.D. 780): but its my territory, right?
Paul keating - deity (A.D. 780): you can use it East as city prod only
- no units
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): yeah you can use it for city prod
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): but it is netrual
- no units
From Consul Easthaven X (A.D. 780): no units, but its mine
Paul keating - deity (A.D. 780): no units
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): yes, it is yours
From Consul Easthaven X (A.D. 780): 113,27 straight up and down is the neutral border
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): yes
Paul keating - deity (A.D. 780): The world considers the proposal an excellent one
From Consul Easthaven X (A.D. 780): no one steps in it
From King Prometheus (A.D. 780): Ummm this is all nice and good but you still have to get the AL to agree... a treaty between the Mali and the Pacific Pact is not a treaty
Paul keating - deity (A.D. 780): OK EAST
From Consul Easthaven X (A.D. 780): i consider this treaty a good treaty, considering i got invaded
Paul keating - deity (A.D. 780): exactly, capo!
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): Consul Paul
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): perhaps if you provided Capo with Invention and Navigation
- it would be more paltable
- to his honor
Paul keating - deity (A.D. 780): If my allies agree I will give navigation
From Consul SunTzu VI (A.D. 780): hell no
Paul keating - deity (A.D. 780): only
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): if you dont give it to him, I will =)
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): this is for looks folks
From Imperator Lorenzo II (A.D. 780): Australia forget it
From Consul SunTzu VI (A.D. 780): i don't think he deserves any technology
From Imperator Lorenzo II (A.D. 780): Don't give me a damn thing
From Great Pharaoh Chris the computer God (A.D. 780): he's going to get it anyways
From Imperator Lorenzo II (A.D. 780): You got what you want

We were having technical difficulties which I helped solve, hence my name for that session =)

Speaking of little nations building up

It should be remembered Mali was 5th all the way around. But with the ending of this last session, Mali is now 1st in Cities, 1st in Units, and member of the greatest alliance on Earth.

=)

My post.

PEACE PROCLAIMED

Prometheus City, NEW CHINA – Leaders from all over the world at the behest of the Axis Powers met this week to discuss peace proposals to the Pacific-Adriatic war. Peace was difficult to achieve as the bad blood between the Old Pacific Pact (Mongols/Australians) and the Adriatic Empire was amplified by Israel’s decision to dissolve its alliance with the Adriatic League followed with an immediate declaration of war. It was soon clear that Israel had joined the Pacific Pact and this brought about the intervention of the Axis Alliance. The Mali who holds Honor above all thought that Israel’s treason of the Adriatic Alliance was completely uncalled for and therefore the Axis Alliance has dubbed Israel a rouge nation.

While most of the conference is clouded in secrecy it is rumored that tempers were hot and insults, claims and counter claims were hurled on each side. Finally the Mali proposed what the powers thought as a fair peace settlement, much to the Adriatic’s objections. Chinese analysts say that this treaty will leave the Adriatic’s with a feeling of surrender that could be a danger to the future peace.

THE CANADIAN PURCHASE

Karakourm, Mongolian Republic- In an agreement with the Mongolian Republic today two major cities in the Mongolian territory known as Canada were traded for three cities in Asia. Along with this an undisclosed sum was paid to the Mongol Republic for all the territorial rights to Canada except one city that will be used for trade purposes.

The Government has also announced that for the next few years’ government support for building projects will be reduced. When asked if this had something to do with the Canadian Purchase the government said “No Comment”

-Xin Yang
For years the Pacific Pact has been a dear friend of the Chinese people. However it seems times are changing as in recent years a shift in policy has caused the Chinese government to ally with the new Axis Alliance. The Mali who founded this alliance are joined by the Chinese and the Zulu Republic. Now we, the people, have been told for years by the government that the Zulus are a good people and this I can believe seeing as we have never had an argument with the Zulu Republic. However the Chinese Empire was on the verge of war with the Mali when we allied with them and while we were never told to hate the Mali, we as a nation held them in suspicion and thought them one with the Adriatic’s whom kept making our blood boil.

Then the government asked us to trust the Mali for they are our new friends, well at first this sounded absurd and thought this would never last. However I had the fortune to meet some Mali citizens in Prometheus City during the peace conference. They are a good people who wish the best for those to whom they are friends with and expressed deep sorrow about ever being on the verge of war with the Chinese Empire. While I write most of that off as diplomatic pleasantries I did get the impression that Honor meant a lot to the Mali and that they would not betray Chinese interests.

So as we approach the dawn of a new Millennium I welcome our growing friendship with the Mali and ask the fair citizens of the Chinese Empire to be show patience and see if this alliance is as beneficial for the Empire as the last. But remember not to forget the friendships of the Pacific Pact and urge the government continue to grow bonds with them.
