Here's one I hadn't seen.

In the course of setting up the succession game, I needed to cheat/reveal map a few times to find out whether there were any AIs within contact range for the start I was testing.

While doing that, I noticed that when I revealed the map, the AI units had numbers on their shields - "1", "2" and "9" were the ones I noticed, along with the usual "-". Anyone know what that means?

It has to do with what the AI is using the units for, I have no idea what the numbers mean, but as any scenario creater who has playtested his own scenario will tell you, there does seem to be a system to it.
(ie units with certain numbers might all be headed to the same place, or might be headed for different places but later attack the same city, etc)

I was speculating that 1=moving, 2=fortify, 9=some kind of settler function.

But those are guesses... It doesn't really matter, of course, but I thought it was interesting.

STYOM, I've seen this as well. I'm not sure which numbers correspond to which orders.
