  • Why don't we strike at Kiev from the North?

Are there any roads between the two fronts?

That way we cut the Huns supply lines, and concentrate a massive battle against Kiev, rather than fighting all the way east in Stalingrad and along the Don.

    • The marshes lie between Nikov and Kiev. To make matters worse, Nikov is seperated by even more swamp from the Minsk and smolensk. an attack south would have to be made by partisans and cossack cavalry with heavy support from sturmikovs.

      • Action report for Aug 1942

The red army/air force take Warsaw and Liberate Brest.

Loss ratio against the germans was 1 us 3 theres for the month.

Sturmoviks and artillery damaged in the fight and will take months to repair/replace, further sorties west unlikely.

Huge geman army north of Bialstok, being held this turn by a blockade of bombers, tanks and NKVD troops.

Strikes will now move south and east to meet up with the other front lines.

          • Northern Attack Option

With the moratorium on advancing into Germany proper until sufficient artillery arrives and the other fronts catch up, everyone has been looking for the Belorussian Armies to turn south, but what about the North? Now the Northwest front is planning to strike out at Daugavplis and Riga. What if a Belorussian group could seize Vilnius and protect the NW Front's flank while they drive for Riga on the Baltic?

As you can see in my attached picture, The army can follow either of two paths (or both) to reach Vilnius. However, two different problems exist for each potential route. On the eastern blue route, you can see the yellow dot on a forest square, the road was severed there last summer and would have to be repaired. For the western approach, our units would be exposed to units coming out of Germany more than I'd like. perhaps severing the road west at the red dot would slow down the Germans, I don't believe we'll be needing that road to advance into Germany, so no real loss there. But then we have German planes coming down on our marching troops. I circled Arzamas in black, we'd need to station a Shturmovik there to support our troops in the area directly sorrounding Vilnius, either approach we choose can be guarded easily enough IMO from bialystok until our troops reach Vilnius, then the Arzamas airbase would neer to take over.

IMO, the eastern advance is a safer approach, we just need to use a labor brigade to build us a road over that forest.

            • Very good idea Marshal I'll apply those troop movements next turn.

I feel that Anzac is also is a better position to take Daugvopils and Kaunus as he has the mobile units to do so in one movement from the roads NE of daugavpils. His units have also been on leave most of summer.

I have been gathering a few red guards in Arzamus for the attack on Vilnus in Winter but your right once a few tanks are repaired I could add them to the northern front to hopefully help attack in a few month.

I'll send a labor unit to rebuild the road in yellow next turn

It was never my intention to have you attack Daugvaplis or Kaunas, in fact, I should probably mention that the units you send forward will be on a one way trip, once comrade Anzyakov takes Riga and the Baltic front takes Talinin, Vilnius will chop to the NW front while Riga will be transferred to the Baltic Front. After all that gets sorted out, they'll be ready for a push into Germany (assuming we have the artillery needed)

Those Shtumoviks are so powerful we can use them to clear away any Germans in the open field(assuming we can get them into the right place) and a few tanks supported by the Red guards should be able to seize the city.

I'll send a labor unit to rebuild the road in yellow next turn
                excellent

If anyone has a problem with the proposed alterations to front areas, they should take it up with me in the STAVKA thread, not here.

The nazi's sought him here they sought him there but they couldn't find that damn ellusive belorussian commander the scarlet Pavlov.

Comrades the time is for all fronts to attack and meet the goals of our illustrious leaders.

To this end the bellorussian front will attack northwards, southwards and eastwards in that order as supplies and divisional strength allows.
