We heven't seemed to reach a solid consensus in obiwan's thread, so I'm posting this up. I'm considering options 1 and 2 as one, since they amount to the same thing, I'm just curious why people would allow it.
Personally, I voted for 2. I don't usually do things like incremental buying or HutFinder, I feel it takes some of the fun out of the game, but this game is an exception.

Was it used in game 2? I recall no use of it in the first game. I certainly have no idea what it is.

Seems pointless to ban it. If our president knows how to use the charts... well... it's almost impossible to prevent. Now that I know the specials pattern, for example, I do it unconsciously, almost. Same deal for hut knowledge.

I agree that it's almost impossible to prevent, but it does seem to be against the spirit of the game. They way to find out about a place is to visit it or to swap maps. (Mind you I feel that way about "black clicking" as well.)

On the otherhand, I'm willing to look at a table of Oedo years - I wonder if I'm being inconsistent.

It was ment to be open for 3 days, yes, I missed the field for timeout I just wanted to know before we got some cities down, so I would know whether I could use it to know where to mine for specials...
