  • Science Rate after we have discovered all SS tecs

We have 3 more techs we have to research for the space ship, with fusion power being optional (but reccommended) to speed of the SS. I reccommend that after discovery superconductor, we drop the science rate in favor of taxes, but still have the science rate high enough to discover fusion power before, or shortly after we launch the SS. Once we discover fusion power, I suggest zeroing the science rate and throwing everything into taxes which we can use to build military units, SDI and other defensive measures.

    Thoughts?

Don't we want the SS to be fusion-powered? So shouldn't we make sure we get that tech *before* launch?

well, it's going to take a few turns probably to build the SS modules,i was guessing around 3-4 turns for a bare bones, 10,000 person ship, currently we're discovering new techs every 2 turns, so we could slow science a little

Sounds good HTower, but keep up the science rate as high as possible.

That way, if we are behind on the spaceships, we can crank up the tax to help us buy all the parts.

So keep up the rate until we get Fusion Power.

Sell off all libraries to fuel the launch.

I agree that if we get all the techs we need, the Libraries and Universities can be sold.

This is an idea that is new to me. Can we really get the benefit of fusion power by discovering it after we launch but before we land?

That would explain some AI behavour that I previously thought was downright idiotic

To answer the question as H Tower has put it, after we launch the space ship, put the science rate at zero, bump up both the luxuries rate and tax rate. Why, just because we can.

I'm all for dropping the science rate after getting the necessary techs.

I agree. Drop the science rate to zero after we get fusion power with highest possible tax rate while we build the spaceship. We can adjust again once the bird is launched.

do you have a reason for not selling off the science improvements?

Extra techs = extra points. Why will we want to sell things just for extra cash? We aren't that close to losing the game by conquest are we?
