same arguements for a peaceful war. A transport in Quinsay (and Fusion Power) would allow unescorted deliveries to Aleppo (size 20). And we got some rather nice deliveries to some of the Coastal Carth cities, and should be able to get repeat unescorted deliveries of Wine from CAPITOL to Leptis Parva - thats approx 400 every turn if we strategically use CAPITOL's food freights:
    a) Deliver CAPITOL Wine to Leptis Parva
    b) use CAPITOL food towards Apollo or SS part to unblock Wine supply
    c) repeat each turn

that should be sustainable either till we run out of food freights (9), or the supply and demand list resets for one of the cities

      Aleppo (size 20).

We don't even have a size 20 city.

A temporary ceasefire will buy us time for our spaceship. All we need is a little while longer and we can close everything out.

why are we even bothing to talk to them? They inevitability break ceasefires on the next turn. I think remain in an open state of war and sink/destroy any enemy unit that comes within range of our cities/continents

Talk is cheap. We have nothing to lose from another temporary ceasefire.

the main problem with talking with them is that we are a democracy. The UN forces them to offer a cease fire and the senate is likely to enforce us signing a peace treaty. Recent studies in the strat forum have proven that there is a sneak attack bonus, and with our atrocious rep, and supreme rating, we are virtually guaranteed to have that happen any time units are in range... I personally would prefer simply avoiding contact, reguardless of whether we are at peace or at war.

Actually, we'd need another transport in the Cadiz-Pamplona ferry to do it every turn. With only 1, we can only deliver every other turn... Maybe build one in Cordoba?

Sink their ships first, then sign a ceasefire.

                Works for me.

I still think not talking to them and remaining at war is the best strategy, sinking/attacking when they come into range. There is no point being in a ceasefire if it bites us in the arse all the time with surprise attack bonuses, causing small diversions from our overall goal of AC.

Lets accept the status quo, mongols (and everyone else) hate us. They want to throw a war, and we are the only ones not coming to the party.

My worst fear is that we lose a few more transports carryin freight due to the Mongols breaking a cease fire and surprise attacking us.

Re Peace: "All we are say-ing... is give Keith his pants"

Add me to the list of those opposed to ceasefires/peace with the Mongols - or anyone else who sneak attacks us. No peace with the AI is permanent. Better to let them come at us openly.

So, avoid ceasefires, but if forced into one, accept peace. That way, the next turn we can demand they withdraw, or the like, and hopefully provoke them back into a state of war.

The downside of a few turns at peace is that the AI will then launch a war with a number of units... whereas if we stay at war, the units will come at us one by one, which would be easier to handle.

A very excellent point. We should do everything we can to keep the AI doing what it does worst!
