  • Foriegn Minister's Report: 1874, Carths & Mongol.

Mongolian attuide got better with us! (Look below) and maybe ready for peace! And that's it for news.

Carths- Republic, 2004 gold, Cap: Girba, and (still) researching: Espionage. Hostile with us, at peace with us and allied with the Japs. and the Vikings, no new tech.

Mongolians- Fundy, 2291 gold, Cap: Karakorum, and researching: Steel. Receptive with us, at war with us, and allied with the Celts and Vikings, and the only tech they have that we don't is Fundy.

We may as well not bother to make peace with the Mongols. 'Receptive' just means they'd like a breather so they can build up to sneak attack us later, IMO.

Trade with both - this differs from what I said in the 1868 poll. Of course, if we're going to trade, we should escort the Transports heavily in Mongol seas.

My idea is to not steal Fundy - instead, if we're forced to research it (i.e that or another useless tech), we steal it then so we can get back on a useful science track. We may never need to research it (thus, why steal it now, and slow down our research rate) - but if we do need to, we steal it then.1 Make sense?

Especially with our current rep of Atrocious. War4 has pointed that out on quite a few occasions

And having a transport based out of Kazan or Quinsay for quick delivery should help as well

So they're already getting a breather, then. Betcha we're at war with them by 1877, if not sooner.

Well, if we have a breather, lets make sure we take advantage!

no bet. I vote we continue taking their cities and ruthlessly killing any unit we come across that flys the mongol flag

And may I note that I seem to observe a number of unfortified units in cities lacking walls. This seems risky.

I trust the Minister of War looks at such things and advises the President of such vulnerabilities... I have been leaving that sort of thing to the Minister of War, but maybe we should consult on whose responsibility that is.

Speaking of Kazan, though, what should we be building there. We are building City-Walls at the moment, being concerned with a ground attack. Is that best, or should it be a Coastal Fortress or military unit?

i think city walls first, because the mongols have proven that they have the ability to land large amounts of troops, and have not shown terrific naval ability yet.

We should build more defensive units first, then city walls and coastal fortresses. After all, if you don't have any troops in it then a fortress doesn't do you much good, does it?

I'm with you on this one Cavebear - we have 3 cities connected by railroad to Kazan that can help in unit production- city walls can only be built in Kazam for Kazam. And based on the reports from the front, Kazam is the place we are getting attacked the most. those walls (and the coastal fortress there) make each individual defender much less likely to die.

Until we can control the seas around Kazam, the Mongols are likely to land another full transport on our doorstep, and i'd rather have 3 riflemen and city walls, rather than 6 riflemen and no walls
