  • war with mongols poll

Ok we need to dicide what do do with those troublesome mongols.
We allready have a diplomate in Naples and could bribe units to try for Kazan. The first unit we could take would only cost 450 gold. The problem with this option is that we only have 5 production left in Naples.
We could build more units and ships in our biger citys and seend them to the rescue and take Kazan.
We could seend diplomate and bribe barbs from Cartenna for nons to fight the mongals with.
We could allso try to Convert Kazan But the citys a size 4 city and may cost to much at the present tresury level.

If anyone has any oyher idias let me now

Why not just take the Destroyer out of Naples are cruise the coast killing the land attackers? It's so much better than bribing units we would have to support in the city.

ships from the homeland would take a while to get to naples, even if we had them right now to send.

kazin would most likely be too expensive to bribe since it is so close to their homeland and capital

One Fighter at this point could do considerable damage to Kazan. All we would need is a Fighter and transport in Naples, and no units from other cities.

Cavebear's destroyer suggestion also would work well, with the advantage of not requiring cash for the rushbuild.

Unless we are planning a major invasion of Mongol territory, we do not need troops from other cities.

don't forget we would still be seeing large amounts of mongol troops landed outside of kazin if we took it, and there is still the unseen mongol city to our north. I know its there since I saw some terrain change to our north during AI moves.

if possible why dont' we just raze the mongol city, its a strategic strike....let them waste resources building a new one....

we can do the same thing....rinse and repeat, allowing them to be on our soil is asking for trouble

                Isn't "razing" a Civ3 choice?

i don't mean it in the literal sense, lets just knock it out of existence......if it takes a few attempts ie letting them rush a defender so be it

What? Didn't like it? I like it, very much because of the culture part.

I like the idea of just emptying the city of defenders by whatever method -- though I think the Fighter option would be more effective than the Destroyer.

If we occupy the city, we'll just have another weak link to defend.

Do we know the city's defenses?

No, I didn't like it. Partly because the culture thing is out of my control, but for other reasons as well. But I asked because I thought maybe that was a possibility in Civ2 that I didn't know about.

But what can I say? My RL job involves detecting ambiguities and checking on them. It's become a habit that carries over into everything I read now. LOL on me!

JRabbits idea is similar to mine, then smash the defences down some (prefereably) in to the ground....if they want to build there again, they are gluttons for punishment
