    Excellent month, Cavebear!

Now that we have Adam's and a surplus, it's time to really step up the production levels! We need to keep the caravans coming, but also build infrastructure -- especially markets and libraries.

I totally agree that Democracy should be reached ASAP, putting an end to the petty corruption that besets our far-flung empire.

As the incumbent city planner and possible re-elect for next term I find this news to be very exciting. I can now fulfill my campaign promise of a market place for every city, Libraries in even the smallest towns, temples for all citizens to worship, and not to mention the great buildings of learning........University's (although probably reserved for some of the larger cities. ) We can also look forward to new banking systems and of course the aqueduct systems we so badly need to encourage the growth and well being of our populous.

These will indeed be exciting times in the city planners office, i may need to temp some of Hydey's Beutifull.......err helpfull staff members.

I had no idea our maintenance costs were so high! Let's give our very good friend Adam Smith a very warm welcome into Apolyton.

How much would we need to divert to luxuries to start celebrating? Zedd- do you feel that we should wait until Democracy before we start to grow our cities? Sometimes the corruption can be all that stops a city from celebrating.

Once we upgrade the city infrastructure
we can leave the Celts behind as we start to surge in population.

Excellent job President Cavebear Keep up the good work as Minister of Trade this term and keep listening to Mr. Smith. Scottish thrift will enrich Apolyton!

Our maintenance costs were actually quite low. We really only had Temples and a few Marketplaces. I normally have Temples, Marketplaces, Libraries, Banks, and Universities in all my cities by this point in a game. So I really appreciate Adam's help in managing my civ's expenses.

I don't know what Zedd thinks, but I don't think it is very worthwhile to WLTxD in Republic. I would save that for Democracy (which we could be researching now, but the Citizens didn't choose that in the last poll). Democracies respond better to Luxuries than Republics do.

Those Celts are right on our tails, aren't they? I can't wait to find them so we can learn what they are up to and how strong they really are. The Powergraph can be misleading at times.

Thank you. We will use Mr. Smith's talents to good advantage. I, however, will depend on my New England Yankee background for a sense of thrift combined with a desire for a beneficial trade of goods with other civs.

              Excelent month Mr President

              But I got one question:

1540 - Explore with Triremes, move Caravans and Diplomats. Get Gunpowder! Start Medicine. We have 41 Musketeers. Rush 2 Warriors to get them cheap (14 gold). Build "Panama Canal" at "bottleneck". Use 7 Caravans and 120 gold to finish Adam's.
Why rush the warriors after you've invented GP?
They'll upgrade with the next tech, and we can keep building warriors in city's that build them now for a long time

I don't know what Zedd thinks, but I don't think it is very worthwhile to WLTxD in Republic. I would save that for Democracy (which we could be researching now, but the Citizens didn't choose that in the last poll). Democracies respond better to Luxuries than Republics do.
I agree, lets focus now on getting every major city 3 traderoutes, markets and banks.
Then with demo we can celebrate our whole empire at once

Now that we have gunpowder/musketeers, warriors/phalanx/legions are no longer options in the building queue. But there is a narrow window of time where started units of earlier types can still be completed for later upgrade. I chose to finish some Warriors for later upgrade before the game "upgraded" our production choices to Musketeers at the higher shield cost.

As long as we dont have Feud we can keep building warriors in those city's forever.

Just dont change production from warrior to anything else.

The continuous Warrior thing is interesting. Freeport and Whale Island are still on Warrior production, but if you so much as *open* the change screen, you are forced into making something else because Warrior isn't on the list any more! I had never noticed that before because I've always had Feudalism early (I like Pikemen because of the inevitable Barb Horsemen or aggressive human opponents).

if you should happen to accidently open the change screen, ask for advice then press cancel, it wont change production. (or at least in my experience)

I wasnt here for this last term, but it looks good so far...with the exception of the 25year life span.

I can't get that to work, but maybe I'm doing it wrong. I'm pressing the "help button on the production screen, but that still selects the Settler default choice.
