    A previous poll (informal though it was) puts us on the path to Chemistry and Explosives after we finish off Warrior Code.

    The only thing to have changed since then is the gift of Mobile Warfare from our new best friends, the Celts.

    Personally, I don't think this changes our choices, and think we should still be going for Chemistry and Explosives, therefore the first choice (A) is between staying on this path or picking a new path.

    (if we decide to stay with Chemistry and Explosives, the second part of the poll is a moot point, but please vote for your alternative just in case the majority vote to change options)

    (B)
    We have the prerequisites to research any of:
    Physics (leads to Magnetism with Iron Working, or Steam Engine with Invention)
    Chemistry (leads to Explosives)
    Feudalism (leads to Chivalry)
    The Wheel (leads to Engineering)
    Iron Working (leads to Bridge Building or Steam Engine with Invention)
    Theory of Gravity (leads to Atomic Theory with Physics)

    Regardless of the number of caravans we may be able to produce this turnset, I don't think we will be able to discover any more then Warrior Code and the next tech (Chemistry presumably) as they can't be delivered that quickly.

    What could still provide difficulty for this Science Minister is if we are to acquire any techs from the Heathens and Infidels. If we are able to take any cities, we will acquire techs as a result, therefore everyone should post their choices as to what they would like to acquire (without knowing what our enemies have, or even what enemy we could "acquire" them from, it should prove most interesting what techs are named). The Consul can then take this direction to choose from among those offered by our enemies, as I don't intend to provide direction on this matter.

    Cut science to zero and get the beaker bonuses from trade.

      My memory is not too good. Did we try to swap our newly acquired mobile warfare with any of the other AI civs? If anyone hasn't got it ( a long shot, but possible) we may be able to obtain something else which could open up different possibilities for our next tech to research.

        First to correct the poll....I seem to have had a moment of :doh!: when I was posting the poll, as I forgot we can also research Metalurgy as well, feel free to write that in if you want that as you first choice, and I will count those votes. (I would rather not redo the poll).

        In answer to rjmatsleepers question: No we have not attempted to trade with anyone else. Our Consul acquired Mobile Warfare and retired seeking direction from the people. I don' tthink anyone else has suggested this up until now. Not sure who you would like to offer it too though. The Sioux and Egyptians are near, so not sure we want them to have Mobile Warfare if they don't already. The Persians are maybe the best option, but I am not sure they are much farther away. The Zulus probably already have it, but even if they don't, not sure I want to be giving it to them. We could give it to the French! But I do like your point, we have it, lets make the most of it and multiply it if possible.

          Voted to go on to Explosives.

          As for techs from our enemies, I would go for any tech that gets us better weaponry, with maybe Conscription or Amphibious Warfare as top choices.

          And I'm all for trying to trade Mobile Warfare with any but the closest civs (Zulus, Egypt, Sioux) and the Celts, with whom we have an alliance we hope they will not break.
