President Cavebear, thank you for new cities on American river network.
I assume Vetkovia was named after me?

Could you please rush build that stock exchange in Philadelphia and sewer system after that?

All our enemies are either expensive or impossible to bribe. I suggest we build up our military in the next session fast!

We might also want to consider researching a few new techs to make our armies more effective.
To do that, we may need a few libraries and universities more.

1834 – The Zulu civ is destroyed by the Apolyton Imperium!

      next on the ToDo-list: Germany.
Destroy San Diego with Cavalry attack (those 2 moves really make a difference!), get 3G back.
looks like we had a hit.
are there any traces there might be other cities in the area?(did you cover a lot of territory?)

Looks like another great sequence of turns

A few questions and requests though...

                  - Can you give a more detailed description of the battle for Zimbabwae? (Three cannon were lost...how many Zulu defenders were left? The city walls were left intact, any other improvements?)

                  - Any progress towards Pharsalos? (I am trying to find it on the posted maps, but it appears to still be hidden...are any units at least advancing towards it?)

                  - We have 4 active Alipine troops, are they uncovering some of the hidden lands?

                  - The Germans completed Tactics and are now researching _________ ? (hopefully something we don't yet have )

                  - Did any of the Minister of War's plans involve attacking Bombay? (as I find it embarrassing that this city has escaped joining the Apolyton Imperium for so long)

                  - Any chance of another map screen shot of the German territory?

That's it for now, though in response to shade's hope that the Germans are our next target, I hope that our next target is the Greeks.

                  /me

One last thought...would it be worth entering a cease fire or peace treaty with the Americans and Greeks? (Since both are in democracy and "Receptive" towards us) My thought on this is that with our improving reputation they are more likely to enter a cease fire with us, and knowing the AI, they are likey to sneak attack a couple of turns later. Perhaps this is a way to bring down their democracy...and change them into a form of government more succeptible to our diplomats? (I would like to see a poll of this, but I am but a lowly citizen)

There seemed to be 2 Rifle and an Archer left in Zimbabwe when we attacked. It appears they lost a Rifle and a Phalanx (Pikesmen?) from shield deprivation. I attacked when I guessed that they had balanced their remaining available shields with the remaining units.

Zimbabwe retained City Walls, Barracks, Colosseum, and Library (plus Copernicus and GW) after we took it over. I immediately started a Temple in order to indoctrinate the Zimbabwe citizens in our glorious way of life.

                    - Any progress towards Pharsalos? (I am trying to find it on the posted maps, but it appears to still be hidden...are any units at least advancing towards it?)
I did not attempt a search for Pharsalos this session. I think that would be a search for "El Dorado" at this time, and that we could not hold it if we subverted it. We are, however, sending escorted Dips to that edge of the Greek empire with the taking (and successful defense) of Pharsalos high on our priority list. My guess is that the ability to take and hold Pharsalos will be the first great success of the next administration.

                    - We have 4 active Alipine troops, are they uncovering some of the hidden lands?
3 Alpine trrops have made great inroads into formerly unexplored territory, and have revealed a few new enemy cities to our consideration. Without going through the list of cities one-by-one, I think the 4th Alpine is just developed and waiting to head out into the world.

                    - The Germans completed Tactics and are now researching _________ ? (hopefully something we don't yet have )
The Germans are not currently researching anything. I expect that means they have just gotten Tactics and will choose a new tech next turn.

                    - Did any of the Minister of War's plans involve attacking Bombay? (as I find it embarrassing that this city has escaped joining the Apolyton Imperium for so long)
The Minister of War did not suggest an immediate strategy for taking Bombay, as indeed there was no possibility of it this session. He is completely blameless in this, and the fault of that is entirely mine. In the previous session (1806), we could have bribed an American unit and then bribed Bombay, but I thought I saw a way to slip past the unit and save the unit-bribe money. My idea failed, and I now consider it the single worst blunder of my administration.

The blood and toil, gold and shields that it will take to overcome my error will stain my hands and heart for many turns to come. I had greatly hoped that it would be possible to take Bombay during my administration to make recompense for the error, but I see now that it will not be possible.

I will salute the next President when he takes Bombay and ends my embarrassment on this matter!

                    - Any chance of another map screen shot of the German territory?
We don't know much about the German territory, but I will post a screenshot of what little we know.

I don't think a cease-fire with the Americans or Greeks would benefit us. Essentially, they are not an offensive threat to us. It's the Germans who seem to be injecting their military into our fights with the other civs. A cease-fire with them *might* be helpful, but I doubt it would last very long.

I am sure that "peace treaties" with the Americans and Greeks are probably beyond hope. The Americans and Greeks are both allied with the Germans. Our reputation remains "dishonorable" probably because we keep bribing cities. I doubt it will improve even with the Eiffel Tower at this point.

If anyone has suggestions on improving our relations with any civ we are not actively attacking, I am open to them.

Good questions, Sparrowhawk. I have answered them as best I could.

Cavebear, thanks for the answers, they are much appreciated.
However, I think you missed my last point. I don't want to maintain a cease fire with either the Americans or the Greeks. I want us to approach them to establish a cease fire with the HOPE that they will break it (as AI are so prone to do). As they are both now in Democracy, it would possibly (likely in my opinion) bring down their democracy to attack someone they have a cease fire with. At that point, for at least one turn and likely more, we could bribe their cities. Just a thought and a strategy that I like and would like to see the citizens polled on.

I see your point. I don't think it would work, but I think that our esteemed Foreign Minister should consider polling on this unless he knows that it would not work.

I agree... the extra move is well worth the 20 shields it costs.

For those scattered city's I have to agree, for attacking the German and Greek core I still believe that with 59 engineers we can get the job done a lot faster with cannons becouse we have 1.5 times the attacking units.

(Movement not being an issue becouse we can build instsnt railroads and forts )

Well, we need many more railways before just using cannons becomes more feasible.

One thing we can do is to adjust production queues so that everything coincides, cities with low production produce cheap units, and cities with high production produce more expensive ones.

As for signing a Ceasefire, I worry that this might not work and that we will end up sitting across from the Americans refusing to break their treaty.

Secondly, we have an abysmal reputation, so I doubt that the AI would even meet with us to discuss terms of peace.

It seems an awful tricky suggestion just to remove the American Democracy.
