    Horses.

Why use settlers to explore? It's a waste of time.

Horses are perfect to do the job, they can even take out an enemy unit or barb leader.Their chances of getting killed at first contact is smaller then that of a settler just waiting to get killed.

Also remember we are playing on a big map so distances will also be large.=> bad for corruption to build cities a zillion km away from our capitol.

settlers use up too many resources to be used for exploring, better that they improve terrain or build new cities

I voted for all units, but in the case of settlers (and anything else that being used for another purpose) don't let it interfear with the main job.

BTW polls without a banana option leave the population restless and liable to revolt.

once the first few sets are down, build more, have them link the cities with some roads, we need all the trade we can get...and have them in position to time plopping them down for the monarchy expansion

horsies to explore, never use a set past 3200 bc

I voted much the same way, Settlers should only be exploring when other exploring units haven't found anywhere good for them to settle.
