I earned my first 1000 the CIV 2 way. In the game forums. I think Ming will back me up on this. There were few visits for me to the OT... for some time at first.

I'm a little wasted right now so stay with me (lord knows I having problems staying with it).

The OT should not count. Post count really means nothing. Well, now a 1000 means you can use a custom avatar. So... take mine to 1000 if you want. but yeah, I guess I would a thousand at least to... well you know.

before someone like mao reached 10,000 in a year. i'm not picking on mao but when one thinks of spam - i mean come on!? mao is the definition of spam. someone help me out here.

so make OT post count free! i'm for it!!!

Radical thought about post count (and I finally looked it up, since the user database sorts by that if you want it to - I'm #9 )

How about eliminating it and titles, but making custom avatars available to everyone after a minimum time on the forum (so that DL's don't try to cram a porn image in a 64 by 64 .gif )?

I don't care about post count, I don't care if mine's reset to zero.

99% of my posts are in the OT, so it "affects" me, but it really doesn't, because it's so inconsequential.

bcr3 - if all that mattered was post count, then some happy spammer who did for most of his posts would give you a feeling of recognition if he replied to your posts?

It's about quality, not quantity, and that's something people who get to know each other on the forum can recognize, but there's no way to "measure" it like post count. What you contribute counts, not how many posts you divide it into.

Yes, but if you don't care about the users, you wouldn't be trying to make this into a community would you? Isn't that what all the titles are about?

Oddly enough, on topic posters aren't barred from the Off Topic Forum That's how I got there

I guess my days are numbered here.Is this how a minority feels?
              Well,IT SUCKS!!!!!!since I'm a non-civer I don't exist .

I didn't want to be a king anyhow.

I know,I know, the reason I stayed was to become a Warlord as was the fears expressed during the Apolyton/Newsmax wars.I just wanted to get under Stefu and Theban's skin.Stodium even e-mailed me to ask me to leave which even made me want to stick it out more. But funny things happen in battle,I got addicted to the insight, intelligence, and the humor at Poly. The world view was different and the posters here had me looking at things from different slants.I can say being here for the last year(11 months)has improved my grammer and my attitude(right-wingnut spammer).
For that I thank you all.

Apolyton OT was a place I had to surf to everyday just to catch up on other views then the typical forums.I'll miss it.

For the record, I regularly post on topic - as Ming will testify.

My first thread, "post count, who cares" which was on this forum, still expresses my opinion. For non-civ posters, you can still post as before in the OT, only without worthless, at least to self motivating and secure egos, brownie points. I rather doubt that more than a few dozen of even the "spammers" are more motivated by post count than by just wanting to post something.

I think the fact that OT post do not count any longer is really unfair to the "newer" visitors, especially in connection with the rule that you can have your unique avatar only with the "King" title.

This post has of course nothing to do with my current "Prince" status...

                      Brownie points?

You're making me hungry, Lefty. I assure you that from my spot on the other side of this fence, your side looks like it's the one overreacting. Why does it matter so much to you that this doesn't matter? I'd call it reverse-whining if I thought it was really reversed.

Now, let the spammers have their posts. So what? Oh dear, I'm whining in reverse! It all matters so much to me! ...Now I'm gonna go bake!

Hey, man....give it some time. I'd hate to see you or anybody else go....that is quite a testament to the OTF, and kind of the point I've tried to make. That forum is a big draw for this site....I don't understand why Mark is being such a tight ass about counts there...how about this: non-Civ titles in the Off Topic/posts count?
You could hit a little button or something in your Profile designating which "class" of Apolyton citizen you wish to belong to?
Whatever...I think the whole thing is kind of stupid...but Mark's arbitrariness is really starting to get on my nerves.
How about telling people what is going to happen so you can have a little discussion? If nothing else, I could have retrieved my PM's that were important to me...but no, you couldn't be bothered...that kind of thinking sucks, whether its "your site blah blah blah" or not--this community made you, Mark...stop being such an overlord and get down on the level for a change.

Mark perhaps some thought should be given to allowing custom Avatars for something other than 1000 posts. This is a bit unfair. Perhaps after 50 posts or a length of time.

Don't try appealing to his better nature. Try bribery. Send him money and prostitutes. The post-counts will be restored within days.

Seriously- the whole post-count issue got debased with the PCR "punishments". ACS is unduly hung up on the issue and it's blown out of all proportion. Ditching the lot would be the best solution.
