Dan, Markos: I know this isn't your fault. Here's something you might want to look at, an article from Jakob Nielson, The Top Ten New Mistakes of Web Design. Pay particular attention to point 10 . If you don't know who Nielson is, he is one of the acknowledged experts in Web usability [whatever that means ]

Ming: minimizing the offending popup window doesn't work in Netscpe

TMM: disabling JavaScript means you need to type in your username and password whenever you post a message. Still, I see this as a minor evil compared to pop up windows

Proximitron also seems to be able to block popup windows.

Narck, do you still have the box checked in front of Standard Filter? If you also unchecked that box it won't work. So you should have checked Standard Filter and Popup Windows.

Alternatively, you could use that Proxomitron program that Mark von Wagner mentioned. When I used that I also no longer had that newsbox problem I mentioned earlier.

Chowlett, click on preferences above the first post of the page. There you can set it so that your username and password will be remembered in a cookie.

In order to have an accurate image of the issue, please send an e-mail to irex@gamestats.com stating your name, e-mail and the reason of your concern or the specific problem caused by this pop-up

if there are enough complaints from the whole network, something will be done, as it happened in previous occasions. if there aren't, it seems that we will have to wait until this campaign is over, as it seems that this is a special thing(it's the first time we ever had a pop-up)
