Pop-ups?

This is the third time I tried to post to say I REALLY hate these pop-ups. The first two times, the pop-ups crashed my computer! And I don't even have a firewall!!

Here's the "cheat" to avoid these stupid popups:

Just let one of them fully load, and then don't close it - leave it open for the rest of the time you're on the site. Trust me, it is so much better that way.

Like David Floyd said, the best way to deal with the popups is not to close them. I just minimize it when it first shows up and after that they no longer bother me.

Of course it would be even better if there were no popups in the first place and this minimizing doesn't help much if the popup ads make your computer crash.

Besides, aren't MarkG and DanQ getting cheated? They're getting payed for one advert., and two are showing up.

So lets just face it, we <u>all</u> have a good reason to see those adds come down... lets keep working on it...

Hmm.. the faq.. well.. I've been elsewhere the whole day, so I haven't had time... I don't feel like doing anything right now... but tomorrow I'm going to throw in a couple of hours of work... so check back late Sunday evening and it should look better

Seriously, having popups on the page is probably the WORST possible thing that can be
put on a site. This thing is annoying as hell. If you want to annoy users, this is the best way to do it. They'll see it as both being annoying and being an intrusion into their ownspace and online routines.

Keep trying to get Gamestats to get rid of it!

You should point them to this thread, so they can see not only the sheer numbers of people annoyed with it, but also how annoyed they actually are.

I hope we get to the bottom of this annoyance. I think it is a step too far by an overzealous internet advertising company!

This is indeed a massive disincentive to some people to visit. I can cope with adverts. Pop ups are on the same level and junk mail and email!!!
