The really annoying thing is that by the time a few dozen people have signed up, Poly will be making more by subscriptions than it will be in ads (which are poor payoffs these days, no?). And when that happens, the ads could conceivably be scrapped. But, oh wait, they can't, because then the subscribers would have payed for the most expensive 3600 pixels in forum history.

I would hate to think that Dan and Mark didn't discuss things with an accountant about funding and price setting. If subscriptions make the bulk of income then the subscription cost was set too high.
And I think lifetime membership is a bad pricing method.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.
we have said that one of our aims is to reduce the amount of popups for non-subscribers.
the current PLUS benefits though are only the begining. we want to continuously increase the value of subcribers' money(without requesting extra $ from existing members)
i'm searching the thread for some "satsfied customers" quotes, but could only find the following

I do not agree.
I believe my lifetime membership fee was a well vested investment...this way, I will not be bothered with renewal email notices. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

All right, time for some additional cheesy feedback.
Poly's Subscription makes me wonder why all sites dont have it - I will probably end up saving my fingers from a few years worth of arthritis without having to keep closing those sodding popups.
'The bigger avatars are subtle, but when you've got one you can tell the difference alright.
Righty, time for my feedback. Everything is working, except for one very minor thing. The option page for the avatar has a mistake in its style template, as it also gives 80x80 and 10000 bytes as the size limit for the custom avatars for subscription members. This should be easily circumvented by adding a conditional for the subscription member usergroup (if we have one, which I assume to be the case, unless the bonuses are given through some other arrangement), so we see the 100x100 and 25000 bytes limits.
Off-topic remark:
Thanks very much for the good customised merschandise, Markos! Picked it up today at the customs, so you can remove the T-shirt from the store now.
